labs again???

My surgeon does labs at 6 months, I would like them at 3 months       , I t was hinted by a hospital source that if I had them at 3 months I might incurr expenses.


Why can`t my surgeon use the codes he will use at 6 months?



I see so many other surgeons from other states doing labs at 3 months and finding defiencies  (sp)

Why wait for 6 months?                has anyone here in NH had 3 month labs taken because they ASKED  for them?               I know they can be taken if you are having a problem, like I had at 1 week out, of course my labs were fine then EXCEPT  my potassium was already going lower ???

 Hi Jennifer, I just saw Dr. Looser on Friday. I'll be 7 weeks out on Monday. He did not mention labs and in fact I don't go back to see him again until October 17th. I'll be 4 and a half months by then.
When my daughters had their surgery 5 years ago in MA their blood was drawn at 6 months also.
Have you told Dr. Gens your concerns?

Hi Jennifer-
I went through the program at Lowell General and have had my labs done at 3 months, 6 months and am scheduled for labs soon at 9 months.
I have not had any complications and my labs have all been great- so I think that you could probably ask for them sooner!
It may have to do with your insurance policy- you could always call and see if it would be covered before broaching the subject with your MD.

We truly have to be advocates for ourselves! If the surgeon won't order them, try your PCP.

My insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mass via. Liberty Mutual) has just started a new policy where I have to pay for all of my labwork myself, period.  Out of pocket.  They will now not cover "typical" stuff like bloodwork. 

Grrrrr!
