I am 7 weeks out , have the go ahead to try anything , well not fried foods or sugar .

So last week I think I was trying to eat a little too normal, or rather as in the pre op days.         I am trying very hard to eat a balanced meal of protein, veggies and fruits at every meal plus 2 shakes, plus 64 oz of water.              I can`t do it!!!

Am I worrying too much right now about eating "balanced"          Should I take a few more weeks to focus on the water always, the protein and "some "   fruits and veggies?

I felt like a failure the end of last week when I just did not have room for very much   veggies and fruits , I had prob 1 TBS of each.

So at 7 weeks out should I try harder to get it all in?

Thanks

I did talk to Dr, L about this because I have not been able to eat any fruits or veggies yet. There is just no room. He said I was doing fine and eventually I'll find some extra room. I'm not worried about it anymore - I'm going to enjoy whatever time I have left of not feeling hungry :)

You know what?  I'm almost NINE MONTHS out and I still can't do all they want me to do.  My labs are fine, I'm getting my fluids and protein and I do my best with the rest.  Don't be so hard on yourself.  It comes with time, sometimes a LOT of time.

I'm 16 weeks out and I dont' eat ANY fruit or veggie yet.  I eat fruit if it's IN something - like Fage yogurt or a shake, but not on it's own.  There is no room.  Jaquie said to JUST worry about the fluid and protein for now and that the thing with fruits and veggies is to make sure when there IS room you use it on fruits and veggies (protein first, always) and don't fill it up with empty carbs.  She said it just takes time.  Eventually everyone gets to the stage where they can get in their protein and still have a little room left for some veggie.  But not much.

We'll never eat like we did before.  Which is great because then I'd look & feel like I did before.  Which was not good.

As long as you are taking all the supplements the doctor wants you to, you don't really NEED fruits or veggies anyway.  You're getting the nutrients you would get from food from your vitamens.  So don't stress on it, just feel good about yourself and focus on you in a positive way for awhile.  You remember what Dr. Wagner said about using your "good friend voice" - ie. talk to yourself as kindly and patiently as you would your best friend?  I perscribe less worry and more good friend voice.

:-)

Lord, give me stregth and when I lack it, patience.
