How and when do you reward yourself?

Over the last year or so, I have been rewarding myself with time alone. On the days when I feel like I deserve something a little extra, I come home and watch tv for an hour before getting my son from daycare. It's a little thing, but it really helps me unwind and destress!

For my weight loss journey, I think I am going to start treating myself to a manicure, pedicure, or a new outfit once a month.

I guess I should come up with a plan now.  I hadn't really thought of it.  My reward was ice cream, a shake at McDonalds.....bad, bad, bad habits!

I like the new outfit thing....I will be needing some of THOSE.  I can't wait to be skinny enough for goodwill!  HORRAY.

When I was about 8 weeks postop I started wearing makeup again.  I hadn't worn it on a regular basis for YEARS.  So, yesterday I went to the mall and bought myself a new eyecolor from Sephora ( I love that place) because I hit 90 pounds lost recently.  Nice little non-food-related perk that won't break the bank.

I was thinking about your response when I was at the drug store today. There are lots of neat little lotions and nail stuff, all sorts of things to pamper yourself with. And buying new make up is a great pick meup- it makes you feel better about yourself, and highlights the weight loss efforts even more!

That's kind of how I felt.  I went to Sephora at the Mall and got a makeover and bought new stuff.  Now, I go in every so often and get a little something here and there.  I wear make up pretty much every day now.

I guess before I thought about it like dressing up a pig in a tuxedo to be putting make up on fat me.  Not the best way to think about it, but there it is.

Ahhh rewards?  Food has always been a major award for me.  I think long walk in the woods with my dogs might be a frequent reward.  And jewelry comes to mind.  Oh, I do think I'll be able to think of something.....  Treading

That would be a great one-- and it serves a duel purpose, because gardening gets you out of the house and moving around!

I dug up all of my perennials and gave them away three years ago, right after my son was born. I just knew that I wouldn't have time to deal with gardening, so I planted grass seed. I do miss my flowers, but not all the work that goes with them!

A few years ago, I used to buy myself a new top (blouse, sweater, whatever) IF I exercised every day that week. It was good motivation, and it worked nbicely because I was able to buy the smaller clothing that I needed anyway!

I spend $$$ on myself - manicure, pedicure, clothes, jewelry.  (I don't go crazy, but I do spend it more than I used to.)  Last week, I bought myself some new pants for exercising in, of all things, and I felt like I had really treated myself!
