My Date is OFFICIAL
I'm on for the 28th, so this coming week will be all the prep for that. Most importantly, I have information to share with all of you that have to travel a significant distance to Portsmouth...
Since we have an hour or so drive, and I have to be at the hospital at the @$$-crack of dawn, we decided to get a hotel room nearby the night before. There are several places on the same road as the hospital, so I called them for rates. $170 was the cheapest! Yipes! We wanted to reserve the room for the night of surgery, too, because Dr. P. mentioned that she's probably going to keep me overnight and I wanted somewhere for DH to crash. $340 was a lot of money, so I called the hospital to see if there was a problem with DH crashing in my room if I stay the night. I found that this usually isn't a problem, BUT if we wanted to take advantage of it, the hotels on that road have Medical Patient and Family Rates! We got the regularly $174/night room for only $99/night! The only "catch" is that I have to have someone in the Short Stay unit send me a letter with my op dates to forward to the hotel to get the rate.
The surgeon's office didn't mention this to me when I called there to get the names of the places nearby, so I'm not even sure that they are aware. I may stop in to the pre-op support ground in Derry the week after my surgery just to make sure that all the incoming people know this.

First off, congrats on getting the date and being able to keep your Aruba plans and all that. Second, thank you as I am likely to benefit from your research and leg-work. I was planning on getting a room just as you describe. Great to know I can get a reasonable rate. $170 for anything on that road is outrageous - scenic NOT!!!! Such good news - Treading
Congrats Neener,
I'm glad you got the date you wanted. Hope everything continues to go well for you.
I did call the Dr's office and the problem is that Dr Gens is on vacation so I have the appt on the first day he is back in the office. Oh well, at least it should not be long after that. I'll just figure out something for work.

That is sooooooooooo exciting! You would think that the Surgeon's office might put that right in their informational packet---your right, maybe they are unaware.
I too have to be at the hospital at like 6am I think---first on the docket on a Monday morning! I think that is good---as long as Dr. Gould is not out having a big party weekend! (HE HE HE)
Wow, the 28th---that is so soooon!
