QOTD: What are you doing this weekend? (7/19)

I haven't started getting anxious yet. I cleaned the house today, and made sure that all the junk food is gone. Tomorrow I have to be on clear liquids all day, so I made a HUGE to do list to keep me busy. My surgery is first thing Wednesday morning.

It's just been such a long time coming that I can't believe it's actually here. And I am wondering if I have prepared myself enough, and I'm afraid that I might fall back into my old habits after the next month or so.

So uhm... I guess I AM starting to get a little anxious!

You will be fine.  But old habits do die hard, so remember that if you start slipping back, get right on these boards.  There's no better support anywhere like here.  But here are my other tips:
-When they try to get you out of bed after the surgery, do it.  (I begged them not to, and I paid dearly cuz I was so uncomfortable after that.)
-Don't get on the scale at the hospital - or for the first week home.  You'll be way up.  I was up 7 pounds at first, but it's fluids and stuff from the surgery.  It falls off right away.
-Keep sipping the water as much as possible.
Also:
-Write down everything you eat (I use Fitday).
-Exercise as soon as you can.
-Get into a post-op support group and attend regularly.
As far as being prepared, from your postings that I've read, you sound very prepared. It's going to be great.  How long are you planning to take off from work?  (I took 5 weeks, but (a) I had the time coming, and (b) I had Lap RNY, which I know is different from lap-band.)  In any event, you should take as much time as you need/can.

Thanks for the advice- especially about weighing in! Ihadn't even thought about that.

I'm a teacher, so I don't go back to my job until the end of August. I won't have to "do" anything until Tuesday, which will be the first day that my son and I are home alone- but if I am not feeling well enough to care for him, I iwll just pay for him to go to daycare because my health is definitely more important! He and I will probably just hango ut at home and watch a LOT of tv next week while I wait to feel more myself.

I htink that's the most stressful thing- not knowing how I'll come out of the surgery. Some people seem to recover quickly and other people take a while. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

I bought a paper journal to use as my food and exercise log (I like fitday, but I don't always keep up with it since I am not always around a computer.)

I'm rooting for you, C!  Ewvery one of us will face challenges but, as Anne of Green Gables said, no one can fail to make a lifelong change in a single day.  You're on your way.  I'm excited for you and I just hope your surgery experience is as positive as it can be.  I've heard nothing but good things about the team and the hospital - sure hope it holds tru for you.  Treading
