Any one interested in joining our support group?  We are having our monthly meeting this Wednesday 7/16 at 6:30pm. The meeting had been suspended due to Dr. Brown not being able to attend but I saw him today for my 4.5 yr check up and He said the meeting is ON..woo hoo.

So come one come all, we always love to have new people so if you can please join us. The meeting is held in the building attached to the hospital by the cat walk. We meet on the lower level at 6:30 til 8pm

I hope you can make it..

Laurie,

I might be interested in attending.  I'd be coming from Manchester.  Do you know what exit I would take off of Rte. 3, and then how would I get there after that?  Is this group made up of all post-ops?

Hi Kathy,

Great we love to have more attending, right now it's a very small group.

take exit 5 (it's the second exit, you need to go under the overpass and it is a big curve where you will end up going over the highway and go straight(just follow the hospital sign) both hospitals are off this exit. You will pass St. Joes just stay straight til you get to the intersection of Kinsley (the st you are on ) and Main St. At that light make sure to stay to the far right, and after you turn right, get immed. into the left lane as you will turn at the first light (the hospital will be on your left).Once you take the left, go straight to the Stop sign, go thru the stop sign and the parking lot for the building is on your left.

We meet on the lower level of this building.  I hope you can make it.

Kathy, if you do decide to come pm me and I will give you my cell # in case  you have problems finding us. SNHMC is right on Main St in Nashua and the meeting is in the blding that is attached by the cat walk so it is really behind the main hospital.

Hi Laurie!

I would love to go! However, Dr. Brown didn't do my surgery; Dr. Drinkwater did at SNHMC. Can I still attend? I would really love to go as it has been forever since I have been to a support group meeting!

I will be 4 years post op in August. Dr. Drinkwater left the area awhile ago to head to Mass, so since he left, I haven't been to any meetings. I need to get back around people who know what I am going through.

Where exactly is the meeting being held? Is it right the the hospital (SOuthern New Hampshire Medical Center)? Or is it in that building right to the right of the hospital? That is where Dr. D's used to be.

Do you think it is open to Dr. D's patients? Also, who facilitates the meetings, is it Dr. Brown or a staff member?

Thanks!
Denise

Hi Denise,

That would be great if you could come. We have been trying to get both groups together since Dr. Brown signed on with SNH. They did not give Dr. Browns office a complete list of Dr. Drinkwaters patients so it was mostly by word of mouth that people have been coming. We would love to have you join us. The hospital says that we need to be 18 months out to attend but Dr. Brown sad that anyone is welcome that has had the surgery, RNY, Lap Band or any other form of bariatrics.  It is a small group that has not had a meeting for a few months, Dr. Brown seems to take an awful lot of vacations, seems like it's 1 week every month (lol) but his wife is my PCP and w/ 4children they sure keep the two of them busy.  He just got back from taking two weeks off so hopefully, he won't vacation in August on the same week as the meeting.
The hospital won't let us meet with out a hospital person present so if Dr. Brown doesn't go the meeting is cancelled.
We do meet I think in the same room as your old meetings. it's in the lower level of the building that has the cat walk to the hospital.
The meeting is from 6;30 til 8pm and Dr. Brown is the facilitator. But I will tell you He is a doll and lets us basically run the meeting. He says the meeting is for us and he is there to answer questions and to listen to see how we are doing.  He no longer does GBP surgeries but he is such a dedicated doctor, he takes time out to help us all stay on track or get back on track. I think you will really like him.
If you have any ideas for the group or for future meetings please feel free to share them. We really are a mixed group from both old groups so I'm sure you will see some folks that you know from your group. If you know anyone else from your group please pass the word on, we are really trying to expand this group so the hospital doesn't cancel it..
We do have people from Dartmouth, several from Boston programs and then the two Nashua hospitals.
It will be nice to meet you, and I must say you are doing great, keep up the good work.
Have a great night and I hope to see you tomorrow.....

Laurie,
I forgot about tonight's meeting and walked into work instead of driving, so I don't know if I can get there in time or not (by the time I walk home).  I'll try to get out of the office a little early so that I can make it.  Are you sure it doesn't matter that I had the surgery at Tufts and only 10 mos. ago?

Hi Kathy,
I hope you can make it tonight, walk fast..lol

You are more than welcome. We have people from groups in Boston, that don't want to travel into Boston, for a group, we have some one from Dartmouth Hitch**** in Lebonon, I think one of the girl's is from Portsmouth, and there meeting is not on a night she can go and of course we have people from both groups in Nashua. Dr. Brown has this open support group ans his only restriction is that you have to be a post op. On the website the hospital says that we need to be 18 month out, but Dr. Brown has told us any one that has had Bariatric surgery is welcome.

Now strap on those walking shoes and get down here so we can meet you. It's a small group in the summer time but we have an open forum so if there is something you want to discuss or any idea's to make the meeting fun are always welcome.

Dr. Brown will be there tonight...
