Well, I called both my insurances today.  My primary Health Partners said they just received the request and information on the 8th so they had no decision as yet.  When I told the lady that I had been told the turn around was 24 to 48 hours, she told me that the person who told me that should not be telling people that because it is longer, both were very polite when I called.  Any way she said I should call back next Tuesday or Wednesday.  My other insurance Tricare said they don't have any request for prior authorizations for me and suggested I call the Dr who supposedly submitted the request.  They did say that sometimes there is a back log (on the fax machines?) causing some papers to not make it through to them.  It was late so I'll call Gail first thing on Monday morning.   Maybe I don't need a prior from Tricare where they are a secondary insurance?  But that isn't what Gail lead me to believe.      I had my first appt with Dr Gens on the second so the request weren't sent out until the following week.     The only bright spot for now is that Dr Gens said once the approval comes through I could pretty much pick a date, and my second appt would be about a week prior to that. Hopefully I'll be joining you "guys" on the loser bench in the next two or three weeks.

My approval took about seven weeks from the time the office told me they were sending in the paperwork. I don't know when they actually sent int the request, but I do know that the insurance company contacted them for some additional information in the meantime.

As soon as the approval comes through, things start to happen quickly! Hang in there!
