Hello Folks,  I was diagnosed with sleep apnea today.  Can't say I'm surprised and I'm hoping the c-pap (which I don't get fitted for until July 1) helps because I'm the walking dead!  Man, I'm tired.  I see Dr, Gens for my first consult on Monday.  I am very glad I let my PCP refer me for the sleep study (which I had fought for over a year, like a fool) about 6 weeks ago.  I finally agreed to the referral cuz not only was I exhausted but I had read enough to fear Gens might require the study and it would have held things up for 2 months anyway.  This way, I'll have the dang c-pap at surgery.  I guess it really is a safety issue so I'll be relieved to have it.   So, maybe I'll feel better soon.  Hope so.  I've been too tired at night to spend much time here with you and that is a shame.  Anyway, just wanted to share.  One more diagnosis - hey, I'll just add it to my list.  Take good care - Treading

The c-pap worked wonders for my dad. I remember that he used to fall asleep all the time, because he was just exhausted. He didn't go do the sleep study until it got bad enough that he was nodding off while driving.

Anyway, I'm glad you got the diagnosis and will getthe c-pap to help you rest. And once you've lost your excess weight, chances are you won't need it.

I've heard that many times and I do hope you are right.  My weight loss just might solve the problem altogother.   Wouldn't that be great?  Say, do you have a surgery date?  I may have missed you posting it but I'd sure like to be swinging chickens on your big day.  Are you all set?  Remember, I'm a neighbor and I may be able to run an errand or lend a hand.  Thinking of you and thinking I may not see you at the pre-op meetings anymore?  Treading

Hi Treading, I too had sleep apnea and used a C-Pap machine. It made a big difference. I stayed awake and had more energy. I had to bring my machine to the hospital when I had the surgery they will hook you up to it when you come back to your room. I am happy to say I have been off the machine after I lost my weight. So the weight loss will help. Good Luck with your surgery. I am so happy I had surgery it has changed my life. Roxanne

Hi Roxanne,     Thanks so much for the encouragement and for sharing your hospital experience.  I wondered if I was going to wake up in recovery with the dang snoozle attached to my face or what?  LOL. Stayed in bed 10 hours last night (which just kills my back) and I was still dog-tired today.  Can't wait to get that c-pap!  Thanks so much - Treading
