Protien pumped breakfast
So DH and I are trying to eat like we will after I have surgery. So instead of going out and eating a fatty calorie charged breakfast at the local place, he made breakfast wraps. I was skeptical, but they were actually really good - just a few things needed tweaking.
Here's the 'recipe' we used:
Eggbeaters
Morning star farms vegetarian sausage patty
reduced fat cheese ( i think it was the 'mexican blend')
tortilla
Scramble eggs, add crumbled sausage and cheese. Warm tortilla in micro. Add egg mixture in and fold.
The only thing I would change would be the type of tortilla - it is one of the large ones and had the most cals/fat out of everything else. I think next time we'll use the small fajhita tortilla's or something - anyone have an idea of a good one to use thats low in cals/fat and high in protein?
Also we may add some tomatoes and other veggies - but it's a good base to start with. The vegetarian sausage is small and has 10g of prot, plus eggs and cheese makes it a good start for the day!
Thatn is my favorite breakfast to have. Filling tasty and portable. I use the Mission low carg tortilla's I get them at Shaw's. I love to add carmelized onions and grilled peppers to my wrap. I don't use egg beaters, I just use 2 real eggs so not sure of the protein count on the egg beaters.l Maybe next weekend I'll try those.
Thanks
