For those of you that had him as your surgeon, did he send you home with Prilosec tablets?

Hi Jen, I had Dr. Looser as my surgeon but Dr, Gens discharged me. He told me to take Prilosec or pepcid to reduce acid. How are you doing?

Yup, sure did.  Still taking them now, too.  I forget if it's for the first three months or six months.  I'll ask him when I go in for my three month check up.  It decreases your stomach acid so your surgery area can fully heal.  It's hard for it to form scar tissue and heal up right when the raw areas around where your new pouch meets your intestine is always exposed to acids.   Your new pouch needs babying for awhile.  Eventually it won't need as much, but it can  be really senitive while your healing so you just need to try to irritate it as little as possible.  :-) That help any?

Lord, give me stregth and when I lack it, patience.
