Difference between surgeons???
Hi Jen,
Good to hear from you. It is ...interesting.... to me that these differences exist between docs in the same practice, even. But I guess the most important question is how you feel about this difference? Does it add or detract from your confidence in the doc? And I guess the other question would be if you have a real aversion to the idea of giving yourself shots? Thinking about you - Treading
Dr. L is mistaken. The only bowl prep Dr. G asks is that you don't eat the day before surgery, which is the same for everyone. In fact, pretty much anyone having any surgery doesn't eat at least past midnight the night before. Since it's surgery on your intestines the day before is no solid (real) food. You can do broth, jello, popsicles, ect. though and you can drink but no dairy. That's the extent of his "bowel prep". They USED to do an extensive regiment years ago, but then, both Dr. L & G did the same one back then, Nancy used to give out the paperwork for it.
From midnight the night before on, no water. That's also the same for any major surgery. So if the anestetic makes you vomit, you won't aspire food into your lungs. I had that same requirement when I had my sinuses done, which was just minor same day surgery.
