4/29 -Question of the day - what are you reading?
I just finished two of Dan Brown's books: Angels & Demons and Deception Point. I loved them both even though that type of book is not my favorite. I prefer to "travel" to other cultures. I just started The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, which has been around for a lot of years. So far, I'm enjoying it. I happen to be a very slow reader because I also love to knit, so both activities have to share what spare time I have. Now that it's baseball season, I watch the Red Sox every night, so the knitting takes precedent over the reading because I can knit while watching tv, but obviously I can't read and watch the game at the same time!

My husband just finished reading Deception Point and liked it. I haven't read anything for myself in ages. (Too busy reading books like There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly!) LOL!
The last thing I read for myself was Mindless Eating, which was recommended to me during a support group meeting. It was really interesting.
Hmmm. Mindless eating. . . I'm still working on overcoming that bad habit. Only difference between now and preop is that when I catch myselfl doing that, I usually have eaten too fast or taken a couple of big bites, and I have to make the trip to the "porcelain bowl!"
My kids and I loved the Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly!

Hello,
Well, it's funny you ask because I've just received my newest books from Amazon. I have 3 new WLS books and I'm having a hard time with Carnie Wilson's Gut Feelings, I can tell you. I should preface this by admitting that I am decidely not a pop culture devotee. I am about as off the grid as it gets. I read about a third of this book thinking "who in heck is this person?" I'd never heard of her group or any of her songs and so on. It was recommended to me but I can't say as I know why.
It takes all kinds and that is fine. I am glad if this woman's story speaks to others. And as a morbidly obese person I sure do share some experiences with Carnie. But not many. LOL. I doubt I'll fini**** only because it is a lot about her celeb life and it frankly leaves me dead cold. I had decided a few days ago that Carnie lacks the maturity to accept responsibility for her behavior and thus I predidcted she'd never be successful long-term with her weight loss.
I told all this to a neighbor as we were walking our dogs. My neighbor helpfully educated me that I do know at least one of Carnie's popular songs. She also told me Carnie has regained a good bit of weight. Too bad but I wasn't surprised. I'd have to say I think you really have to be interested in celebs to want to bother with this one. On to the next. Treading
I tried to reply to this yesterday but my computer was acting up and wouldn't let me log on. Carnie Wilson's book was the first one I read five years ago when I first started to seriously consider the surgery, and she really turned me off;. I don't remember why, but I have a feeling it was for the same reasons that you stated. And now it's frustrating to look at her recent weight gain. I mean, here's someone who can afford a gym membership and a personal trainer, and hasn't been able to be a success!
I really enjoyed visiting the Tower of London and learning abou tthe history while I was there, and I SWORE that I was going to come home and start reading more about the royal family, but it just never happened. I guess I'll add it to my to do list! Did you see the movie that was out a few months ago (the other Boelyn girl?)
