So I see Nancy for the 2nd time this week to weigh in and see where I am at with that.  I have been trying to lose since I saw the NUT which was 1 week and 4 days ago.  According to the scale, I AM losing (Yay!).  I've been to Dr. Wagner, PT, NUT and one pre-op class.  So other than getting blood work and other tests and losing the rest of my weight, what is next?  Do I get to make an appt with the surgeon after this appointment? Then the insurance stuff kicks into gear as well I know. I feel like I have been working hard and getting stuff 'ready' I want things to move faster!  Patience is not my strong point.

Hi Jenn,    I can't tell you what will be next but I wanted to encourage and support you.  You have certainly worked very hard and so glad to hear the weight is coming off.  Patience is pretty scarce all around, I think.  LOL.  I'm sending best wishes your way - Treading

If you've met your goal when you see Nancy, she'll give you the go ahead to set up an appointment with the surgeon.  At that point, the insurance approval process begins, and when that's done, surgery can be set up.  (Hmm.. or she might have you wait until you've finished your pre-op classes.) Either way, it sounds like you're doing great!

How many pre-op classes do you have to do?  I thought just 1 was required?

Jenn, I had surgery with Dr. Gens this past October.  Once you are in the Behavioral Modification classes with Dr. Wagner Nancy will give you OK to make an appointment with the surgeon.  Are you having lapband or bypass?

Surgery Date:  October 2, 2007

Thanks, Wendy!  I am having (or would like to have) RNY.  I saw Nancy this past Friday and she explained to me the deal with the behavior mod classes.  I thought those were elective.   I'm a bonehead.  So I will start those on Monday.  So to add insult to injury, I weighed in yesterday and had only lost 1 lb of the required 12 lbs.  Now, I saw her and weighed in before our 1st appt in March, then just started eating right after I saw the NUT 2 weeks ago.  So I have no doubt in that time span I gained a few pounds and lost those.  So now I am back at square 1.  I am scheduled to see her in another month (and know I can lose the other 11 lbs by then) and will have my barrage of testing done.  Minor snag, but all in due time.....
