Hi,
I asked Nancy Seesman about this and she replied that yes, your surgery could be cancelled if you are over your goal weight, but that she has not seen that happen since she's been with the Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Parkland Medical Center program.
Hope that answers your question.

They did have that happen at least once. I remember at one of the general support groups when I first started there was a guy who said he was sent home, had to relose the weight, then he had his surgery. But that was quite some time ago. Scared the bejesus out of me to make sure I didn't have that happen. I had to lose 21 lbs, I lost 34 so I had a good buffer!
Dr. Paciulli was exceedingly clear with me about this. Her words were "If you're over your goal weight on surgery day, the surgery will be cancelled." Pretty clear to me. So, I was extra, extra careful and even though I KNEW I was at least 3 pounds under goal, I stressed until I got on the scale that morning. Whew!
