pre-op meetings complaining

Okay, I feel like a big whiner. This is my third attempt to have this surgery.  Went through that program at CMC twice---first time I got pregnant (ooops!) after they put me on glucophage, no one told me that might increase your fertility!  Second time my husband was diagnosed with cancer.  Now I am going through DHCM. Well---I have been going to the montly meetings.  I am so sick and tired of hearing all the questions from people that obviously have not done the research on the disease.  SAME questions I have heard for years.  The meetings are the biggest waste of my time----I could TEACH the meetings! I will jump through the stupid hoops because I want this surgery, but there really should be a better way.  A comp test?  The whole first 45 minutes I could recite in my head. My weigh in---two pounds to go.  Darn. Just needed to vent............. Michelle

LOL... I totally feel your pain!  My hubby started the program at DHMC - Manchester... of course, he has done research, and of course has learned much more than most people since I've done the program.. .He did 2 of his required meetings, then had a lapse of time where he couldn't go to the meetings, and they have a rule that if you go more than 6 months between meetings you have to start all over again... He was 6 months and 5 days!!! Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!! So on Friday he started ALL over again!   I've spoken as a grad at a few of the meetings, and it really is funny to hear some of the questions people have for the doctor when he comes out!!!  It is SOOO totally obvious who has done research and who has not - those who have ask brilliant questions, those who have not ask really stupid questions... What is interesting as a grad is that everyone seems to have terrific and well thought out questions for us grads, but then Dr. Gould comes out to speak and all the questions are totally stupid!!! LOL... Just had to chuckle!

I felt that way when I went to the informational meeting.  It was very obvious that people hadn't done any research, and then people would ask the same question that had been asked and answered five minutes earlier!  It must drive the surgeons and staff crazy.
