I wasn't banded at PRH, but I do have to say the lap band CAN work, but it's most definately a tool that you have to work, and not expect it to magically get rid of the weight for you.  You still have to exercise, avoid bad foods and avoid overeating - which the band definately helps you with!

I certainly hope so - looking to get banded at PRH too.  Although I am going to hop on the OH lap band forum and read a bit. There is a voice telling me not to bother with the lap-band... My weakness is sweets.  I am worried I will sabotage myself. But I am afraid of the RNY and it being so invasive - it's more 'surgery' than I wanted and more risks, too.... I just don't know....

Jenn- I feel the same way you do.  The idea of RNY just doesn't click with me, but I worry about the lap band and sweets.  I KNOW that once I start losing weight with the lapband, that I will be motivated to continue working hard and using it as a tool.   If you tell yourself that it isn't going to work, then it won't work. The mind-set issues are something that Dr. Wagner is great at helping you through, and that's why I love going to the support group meetings.  I've really changed my way of thinking over the last year as I have been researching the program.  Getting rid of the negative thoughts and reprogramming my thoughts to relfect a more positive attitude toward my health has maed all the difference in the world!
