Nope I didn't die!  Im here and kicking.   The surgeons say the surgery went well with no complications.  Tell that to my sore belly I can't seem to get comfortable with right now!!!!  I was in the hospital for two nights (I don't really remember the first one to much) Got up and walked on my own a few times, forced down some water and eventually CIB's.   How long before you can stand up straight without feeling like your belly will bust open??? I have the liquid pain med but it makes me completely loopy so im only taking half doses.   Trying very hard to get in my shakes and water but its very much a struggle. I must have gas or something cus there is a pain and a gurgle in my belly -  I can't manage a burp just yet. Thats the update thus far,  Kate

Congratulations!!!  Really important.  MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR WATER.  I wound up back in the ER three days after coming home with dehydration.  I couldn't do the CIB's in the hospital, they tasted awful.  First protein shake that worked for me was the fruit flavored Designer Whey.  I made it up with 4 oz of water and got it down without too much trouble.  Then I increased the water gradually until I got up to about 12 oz of water in a shake a couple of weeks in.  Make sure you walk too.  It's hard at first, because, yeah, you feel like you can't stand up straight.  Use a towel or a pillow to "splint" your belly and that should help.  But you don't want blood clots so make sure you walk.  Good luck!!!

Hey Kate congrats on joining the loser's bench!  That gas is probably just what they pump into you during surgery so they can see what they are doing during the surgery.  Gas X meltaway strips really helped me to get rid of that very quickly.  Like the other lady said go slowy and use a pillow to splint your belly.  Take the pain meds if you need them... I know they can really throw you for a loop :)  It does get a little better every day... just be diligent about getting those fluids in as best you can :)

I feel better everyday.  Seems like today i can get up and down without too much pain.   Im getting better with my water i got in almost 40oz today.  Seems like there isn't enough time in the day to ingest eveything you are suppose to.  (it doesnt' help that the pain meds take a 3 hour nap to recoup from!)  Hopefully Ill be out and about this week.  Im already tired of sitting home all day.  When is the post op support group?  second monday of the month?  That will be a nice excuse to get out :)
