I'm interested in attending the post-op support group at Parkland.  I had my RNY at Tufts-NEMC last September, but I get a lot out of the groups, and Derry is so much closer to me than Boston is.  Anyway, is the 18th really on (I only ask because it's Presidents' Day and the one at Tufts is canceled because it's a holiday)?  Also, can you give more specifics as to where at Parkland the meeting will be held?  Is there a floor/auditorium name, etc.? Thanks for your help!

I won't be at the meeting since I work night school but the meeting is on since it is not a NH holiday as it is in Mass. When you pull into the parking lot of Parkland there is a portico enter that door and follow past the desk and it is the first door on the left after the bathrooms. Enjoy, I went to the last one (night school was out for MLK DAY) I really enjoyed it. I can't wait for May when night school is done and I can go again.  It is at 6PM till 7.                                                          goldthimble

I think this is really a question for Grant. I had RNY on Nov 5, 2007 at Lowell General. Although I live in Derry, I did not want to travel to Portsmouth for appts and surgery. Is the post op group held in Derry just for people who went through that program OR for anyone who has had RNY/Lap Band? Carolyn

Yes, I would like to know if anyone can attend also.  Since Dr. Drinkwater closed his obesity center a couple of YEARS ago, I have had absolutely NO follow-up or support and I need to find something.   Thanks!

Hi Jen, I see that you had Dr. Drinkwater for your surgery at SNHMC. Dr Brown who was at St. Joes now is at SNHMC and we have a support group for both Dr. Brown's and Dr. Drinkwater's patients. It is at SNHMC the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8 PM in the meeting room in the basement of the blding attached to the hospital by the catwalk. All WLS patients are welcomed. We have quite a few of Dr. Drinkwaters patients at the month meeting and would lve to see our group go up in numbers. Please join us if you can.

Oh I am so glad you posted this to me!  I will be there next Wed!  Do you happen to know if Dr. Brown is accepting any of Dr. Drinkwater's patients for follow-up care? Looking forward to meeting you at the meeting and Thanks for letting me know. Jenn

Hi Jenn, I just called Dr. Brown's office, and here is the answer, If you go to the monthly support groups,Dr. Brown will do your follow up care from Dr. Drinkwater's patients. His office is at 380 Main St. 4th flr. It's the blding behind the parking garage at SNHMC and his phone number is 577-3160. If you know if anyone else that had the surgery and wants to come to the support group, please forward this info. We have a small group now and are trying to get more post ops involved. Most of our group now are from Dr. Drinkwater's group. Not many of us from St. Joe's..Sadly the Nut we have coming to the meeting (she doesn't come very often, Thank God) is Susan from your group. She is awful as she treats us like we all are newbies. As I said we are very thankful she doesn't come often, not motivational at all. The shrink we have is Merrell, sorry don't know her last name. She is nice but I don't get much from her. Thankfully Dr. Brown is at most of our monthly meetings and he asnwers all questions we have, and Nicole from his office is great, she too is at most meetings, but it is up in the air right now for this month. Her Mom is not feeling well these days and she sometimes doesn' make the meeting cause she is taking care of her Mom. you will like them they are the best. I too look forward to meeting you. See you next week at 6:30.
