HI Linda,     Pleased to meet you.  I don't know if this will help but... I will be seeing Nancy in Derry at 2:30 tomorrow.  She also mentioned she'd be meeting with someone else.  Maybe that means it's business as usual?  Treading

Hello Again Linda,     35lbs - that's simply fantastic!  It's so good to hear when people are happy with their choices.  I'm still undecided about which surgery to go with -RNY vs the band.  Do you mind if I ask you what your top reasons were?  Treading

Hi again,                     I went with the band for many different reasons. First I have two sisters who had the bypass and I watched what they went through, I didn't want that drastic of an operation.  I only was at 80 lbs over weight by my expectations but 100 by the charts. I have dieted all my life, every diet going I have done as obesity is prevalent in my family.  I felt that the band was a tool I could use safely and be happy with. The recovery was quick, back to work in 5 days (I work as a para in a middle school). Also no one I work with knows that I had the operation and never will. I told them as the weight came off that I was on a healthy diet because of my sugar(which had just been diagnosed). This was my choice as I do not like to talk about some things, people tend to judge you or ask a million questions over and over. Only my immediate family knows and a few of my oldest and closest friends.                      It was a well thought out descion and I started looking into it last Dec 06 . I will tell you that the Portsmouth group is the best. You are in great hands. They truely care. Even the OR and recovery has a great caring staff! I wish you the best in which ever you chose. You are making a very important descion about your health and you want to do it right.                                      Linda

Hello Linda,     I was so interested to read your reply and I appreciate the sharing.  I am taking into consideration the issue of privacy.  I do wonder if I can pull off being private with an RNY.  I've had 2 big surgeries in the last 4 years.  Because it was my back, it was a very obvious problem (canes and walkers and braces and so on).  I decided early on that I was not going to take offense at anything anyone said to me.  And most folks were nothing but kind and concerned and happy for me to get well.  But some people do feel at liberty to say the dangest things and to question my every move or decision.  I am a private person so I would choose not to share my WLS at work.      Really, there are just so many things to consider!  Thank you for your support.  I am doing my utmost to approach this with sense and due diligence.  Your recommendation for PRH is helpful.  I was very impressed with Dr.G and Dr.P at the info seminar a few weeks back almost.  I did feel I'd be in good hands.  Thanks again, Treading
