how long?
Ho Jen-
Welcome to the Board!
I LOVE Osipee- we go up to Totempole Campground. It is so beautiful up there.
I had my RNY on Nov 5th. I started the process at Lowell General in May. My process took longer than most, because I had an insurance policy that excluded Wt Loss Surgery. I bought a policy that started Oct 1 and had surgery 1 month later.
I think that the thing that takes the most time is all of the tests, visits, attendance at support groups. It all depends on what your program requires. Sometimes you have to wait to schedule ultrasounds, sleep studies, meetings with Pulmonologists etc.... and that delays the process. Some insurance policies require special diets and monthly monitoring.
If I had to guess, 3 to 6 months is average. Remember, taking time is not bad- it gives you more time to prepare, mentally and physically for the major life change.
I am a little over 6 weeks post op and have lost a total of 47 lbs since my highest wt !
I have to say, this is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself.
Good Luck!

I went to the seminar in Sept last year and had my RNY in January. A lot of it depends on how fast you lose your mandatory 10%. You can not see the surgeon until you have done that. It also depends on your health and how many extra tests need to be run too. PRH is a great program and wonderful drs though!
