I always seemed to be confused. lol Last Thursday I had all three apointments. Physical Therapist, Nutritionist and Psychologist w/ Dr. Wagner. So besides trying to lose the 40lbs before surgery what else do I have to do? I know I need to continue going to meetings - but I can't go to all of them because I live over an hour away (almost 2hrs) .   I guess I need to get some papers together and figure out what I need to do next but I'd figure I'd ask here. So at this stage what did you have to do - to get closer to getting surgery?

That may be it...just working on losing the 40 lbs.  You could check with Nancy and she'll let you know what else.  I know  I had to meet with her a few times during that part of the journey.

Check out the video on youtube that my partner made about my WLS journey!

It's easy to be confused as there is a lot to do.  You will continue working on the weight loss.  When you get the weight lost you will go in for a chest xray, abdominal ultrasound, and upper GI series.  You will have labs drawn.  Then nancy will tell you when you are allowed to schedule your appointment with your surgeon.  If you aren't sure what's up just give nancy a call. As for the meetings you really need to make as many of those as you can, even with the distance.  They do take attendance at the meeting and keep track if you've attended your required number of meetings preop.  Somebody mentioned not too long ago how his surgery was delayed because he missed one meeting.  Plus there will be no december meeting with it falling on christmas eve.  You wouldn't want to be held up because of that.  I know they have meetings in Derry (I think) that might be closer?  Not sure... just a thought.  ttyl

Hi,          I had to attend Dr. Wagner's classes (3) and I did that in Derry, not sure where you live.. I saw the nutrionist a few times and met with Nancy. I was not able to go to any of the other meetings due to the fact that I do night school Mon and Wed with special needs adults. I will go when they fall on a vacation or no school day. I really like the meetings just to share. When the time came I had to go to Portsmouth for all my blood work and pre op work and reported the day before to have my blood set up for the blood bank incase they needed it. But now that I am banded it was all worth it. Be patient and dedicated and you will look back and realize it really didn't take that long.                                                 Linda

Thanks everyone for your replies - they really do help!! Okay I finally got an email back from Nancy. She said if I got to Derry it's 3 sessions (like Goldthimble said) and they are longer. If I go to Portsmouth it's 5 sessions.  I have to attend at least 1 group meeting and I will see Nancy again when I have lost around half of the required weight  loss which for me is 20 pounds.  So now my question is - when is Dr. Wagners next meeting in Derry? Anyone??

Hi,               I believe next Monday at 7 is the next meeting with Dr Wagner. Do you have the blue booklet that Nancy gives you when you first met with her?? The times are in there. I think they were every other week.  You do have to let him know so he can plan how you being there. It is really a relaxed meeting.                                                              Goldthimble
