Pretty sure I want to do this...some questions
Hello all, I am pretty sure I want to have the LAP band procedure. I have a few questions. Has anyone had it in Manchester? Doctors? I have Cigna ins. and they do cover it, but my husbands company may be changing insurances in Dec. So I don't even know if it is feesable in thetime period. Now I am a little concerned that I will never be able to eat normally again, after reading all about the first few months after surgery. Also what abou****er? I love drinking big tall glasses of cold water. Will I be limited to small sips occasionally? If anyone can answer some or all of these questions I would appreciate it~!!
thanks!
Michelle
I have Cigna. You want to make sure that you read the insurance carefully----usually Cigna requires six montly visits with your primary before even considering..... I am currently on month 5.
I dont know what you have read abou****er but from the informational sessions I have gone to they want you drinking upwards of 60 oz. a day. Perhaps you should consider going over to the free informational session at Dartmouth Hitch**** in Manchester the second Friday of the month at 2pm (get there early). I think that would answer a lot of your questions. Each program has its own requirements.....
Hi there! I had my surgery with Dr. Gould in Manchester. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about it. I have spoken the last 2 meetings as a graduate. If you go to the meetings, make sure you talk to graduates because they (we) can answer most of your questions better than the health professionals.
As for your water question, they tell you to sip, but most bandsters I have talked to, myself included, can guzzle large amounts of water. The biggest thing is that you can't drink with meals or you wash all your food from your small pouch into your stomach and that defeats the purpose of the band. But I can still enjoy drinking a large glass of water. The biggest difference you'll notice is with solid foods.
Feel free to contact me with any of your questions!
