Hi Ya ALL,   I had been a member here when I began this process 5 years ago. Since thenI have had my wlS and came with/in 15 pounds of my goal weight. I had Dr Looser and I LOVE him...  Every one told me he was a bear,, I agree a teddy bear I have never had a meeting with him where either of us were not laughing for one reason or another. On the other hand He is also very strict when it comes to who he chooses for his patients and what he will require of  you. He will tell you right from  the start... He is investing a lot ofhis time in your care and expect you to do the same.  My surgery was not without complications and I got to meet and experiance both Dr Patchulli and Dr.Gens, and I can say they were all great BUT as for me Dr. Looser has been ad will be my favorite.  SO it is now over 3 years since  my WLS and I am now looking at having some PS......... The "boobs" have got to go.. or at least give an inch or three !  With out my belly helping to support them They now pull on my neckand back causing a lot of headaches, neck and back pain...   I have great insurance and have already been approved for the surgery.  The problem is that I had thought I knew which of the local seacoast PS/MD's I was going to use,and even had a surgery date   UNTIL I went to see another of my medical tream. Where I joked that I was getting 2 A pluses !  Well when I was aksed who the PS/MD was ... I was told if you were my family member, I would not let you have PS surgery with that MD.   I really respect this person and she/he has been a part of my medical team for at least 15 years.    So today  I met with another local PS/MD and have another appointmnet with another one next week ....  I am not sure Playboy modles get this many boob photos!     MY QUESTION IS: Now having had this trusted medical person "warn me" ( in no specific terms either!  like they never do good work or have a high infection or loppsided rate)  How do I choose????? I liked the first PS/MD andhave heard that a few patients had been upset witht he overall outcome....  DOesn't EVERY MD have a few patients that will not like him/her!!! The PS MD I meet with today, did not seem to be interested in my questions...  However this MD has the Best overall reputation... (I even asked the RN/Mammo/Tech when I had my mammo and she told me this PS was the top DOC!  But I did not feel as if s/he really cared and what was one more boob job... The 3rd PS/MD also has a great long standing rep, but only does surgery in a stand alone clinic.... in and out the same day ( as oppose to overnight in a hospital,  I guess I was excited to have other options.....  now I have even more anxiety and more questions,     any suggestions on how to choose.  I would like to hae this be a done deal by New Years So I can be healed and enjoy the evening    especially as I am having out of state family come and I have not told them any of this!  Thanks LM

At the last PRH support group meeting, they announced that they were going to have a plastic surgeon speak at October's support group meeting.  I assume that if this surgeon is coming to speak, that the PRH surgeons find him/her trustworthy. Good Luck! Angela

Just something to keep in mind.  Surgeons are surgeons and not general practitioners for a reason......  MOST surgeons that I have interacted with over the years do NOT have great 'bedside manner'.  MOST do not like to 'build relationship' with their patients.  Some are downright obnoxious.... Now that does not seem to be the case with bariatric surgeons.... However, after talking to my PCP---he shared with me---that if surgeons were 'nice' and built that familiar kind of relationship with their patients---it could be very hard to cut into them and treat their bodies like a piece of meat!  WOW---a lot of insight there! So, just something to think on.  Just because the doctor acted like you might just be 'another boob job'---does not mean he is not the best doctor for the job.  Maybe that IS the very thing that makes him good at what he does.....
