I like the sounds of the lap band better but I think I should discuss it with one of the dr.'s and get their opinion although I know it's MY choice. I know a gentlemen well my Aunts friends husband who lost over 60lbs pre op . He knew that if he didn't do something more seriosuly though that over time it would come back as always before...it's only been about a month or so since he has had the lapband and I think he's lost over 80lbs total! He also went to this portsmouth program. Thanks everyone for all the insight full information! Congrats to those who've lost and have had either surgey and good luck to all starting the program like me.

I did weigh****chers at home to lose my required pre op weight.  I only had to lose 21 lbs... but figured every pound I lost before surgery was one less I had to lose after.  I also exercise and did the Walk Away the Pounds dvd's... started working up to the 1 mile, then on up to the 3 mile.  Great dvd's IMO for starting a walking routine.   Everyone in the Portsmouth program is great.  Any questions ask Nancy S.  Dr. Wagner is a hoot!!!   My advice is call Nancy S right away & get in for your initial program weigh in.  At least you can get started on your 10% while you are waiting for your initial intake appointment with her.  Best wishes to all.  The journey is SOO worth it!
                  Start 340/DOS 306/C 153/personal goal 145   *34 lbs lost Pre op*

Thank You! I thought you had to send your application and wait for your inital appointment to do the weigh in. That's great to know!

BTW I'll have to check out those dvd's you speak of.
