DHMC Stage II Diet

Argh!   I need some support and ideas from some of you who have done this diet!  Since I have to start it in about four weeks, I have been busy trying things out to see what I like and don't like... Well... first of all, I can't seem to find any "no sugar added" yogurt like LInda told me to find... then I tried mixing some protein powder with a yogurt (those yogurts are only 5 gr protein!) and it was disgusting.  I had no luck with Cream of Wheat either, I felt sick swallowing it!  I can't survive on water and milk alone after surgery, and I don't know if I can eat the yogurts I've found ( I like Yoplait's low fat ones, but like I said I can't find any "no sugar" yogurts.) Those 2 pre op weeks are going to be murder!!! Cindy

hi Cindy!

First, let me again congratulate you on having a date!!  The stage 2 is not that bad.  You dont need NO sugar, just LOW sugar, so the yoplait light is fine (Linda approved me to use it), she wants you to use ones with like Splenda in them instead of real sugar.  For the cream of wheat, add things like cinnamin and a packet of splenda to it, makes it much easier to get past that "glue like" taste  LOL  I found that I lived on the sugar free puddings and jello,  If you like things like tapioca or rice pudding, look for the sugar free ones by Kozy, they actually taste good!  Also remember you can have things like sugar free applesauce or baby food versions of other fruits..  If you want any pudding or jello mixes let me know - i waaaaaay overstocked!!!!  LOL  I found that mixing some instant milk powder to things like yogurt or cream of wheat also added protein.  Feel free to give me a call at the office if you have any question (you have that number on my emails!)

a few other thoughts (hey i am getting old, I get forgetful!  LOL)  Creamed soups, i found that i was craving the Campbells cheddar cheese soup after surgery (guess i really wanted some velveeta and mac!), also found that the chicken cheese enchilada soup was good ('course you need to strain out the peppers and chicken pieces).  And when i made my protein drinks, instead of water I always use the 1% milk with them, makes it takes much better!  At one month out I still have a protein shake every morning as I am driving to work.  I feel that it helps me feel "full" longer, and puts me way over the top in my protein (i guess i really do eat a good diet according to Linda  hmmm :-/ )

I am not going to lie...I am SO happy those weeks are gone!

OK..here was my list.  I made it harder on myself because I am a picky eater!  And yes, apparently I can be picky AND obese.

Unjury Protein Shakes.  (I found the vanilla to be the best and you have to order it ONLINE but only 2 of these gives you your ENTIRE day worth of protein and it tasted good to me).
Skim Milk
Sugar Free Pudding
Chicken Broth
Tomato Soup

And that was it.  I lived off of just those few things.  With Unjury packing such a huge protein punch I found that I did not have to worry about YUCKY yogurt.
