How long between first referral and surgery?

I will be attempting to fit my surgery into school vacation. I'm just wondering how difficult this will be. What is the typiccal wait here in NH? When should I start getting serious about getting started on the journey?

Hi - It probably depends on the program you're going through. For me, I had my first meeting with the coordinator in July and had my surgery Dec. 6. Our program requires appointments with nutrition, physical therapy, a psych eval and 4-5 behavior mod. classes plus 10% weight loss. It sounds like a lot, but it's all worth it - It helped me get ready for all the changes. My surgery probably would have been sooner, but I wanted it in early December because of some other things I had going on. good luck! Becky

I went to my first informational meeting Jan 3rd. and had the lap band May 17th.  I was told this was fast but I did not have any weight to lose before the surgery.  I also had my psych. eval. done when I went into my first meeting at the OTC.  I heard it takes about 6-9 months normally.
