Lap Band at CMC with Dr. Campbell

I have my appointment with Dr Campbell tomorrow (Friday) and should get a surgery date !!! I can't wait. I plan on going to the Dec. 11 meeting too. The process moves along as long as you can take the appointments when they have them. If work or children limit you, it may take a little longer.....all worth it tho kathy

Hi Jen, I had lap band surgery back in January and I am thrilled with it. Although I did not have it CMC, I had my surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston, I am sure that you are in very good hands. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Also you can go over to the lap band board and learn a lot from the people over there. Everyone is very nice and eager to help take care Linda

WELL, I had my appointment with Dr Campbell on Friday. I know her from working in the OR and she felt sooooooo bad to tell me she wouldn't do my surgery. I have an autoimmune disease that just went into remission. The one contra-indication with having the band is an autoimmune disease. I need to be off my medication for at least 6 months before she would even consider it. She felt bad the treatment center didn't know about it and I went thru all the full work up for nothing. I'm still bummed, but I may try opti-fast. Good luck to all of you as you go thru it. kathy

Hey Jen, Did u end up going to the meeting last night. I did go. I've been told I am soo quiet right now at work. I have some decisions to make. Our insurance is renewing in Jan. choice of blue cross or aetna. trying to keep all my dr. appt straight. It is really confusing. I made my psych evaluation for Jan. I finally got to booking it. They said ok -here r what we have open in January. She gave me 3 choices. Jan 10th. 9:30, then 2 on Jan 11th. She booked me the 10th and 11th. U have to go 2 days. so, I didn't realize but, I have an appt with the center on the 11th too. Waiting to get approval with work. I may chg the appt with the weight center for the 11th. to the same day. what did u think of the meeting.

Hi Lisa, I did go to the meeting. I wish we could have met. . I was in the front row w/ my sister. She's going thru the process w/ me. I thought it was very imformative. However, I didn't really learn anything that I didn't already know from my research. Had a couple Q's that didn't get answered. I wanted to ask if they take the gas out of your abdomen after and if they put a couple stitches in the stomach anchoring the lap band in like I've watched in an online lap band operation. But since this is such a long process, I'll eventually get my answers. I hear you on the insurance issues. I still don't know if Anthem will cover the lap band for me. I'm having to get our insurance broker involved. But I'm going ahead w/ the process and hoping for the best. Our insurance renews in August and I'm involved in that so if I can't get it covered now, I may be able to have my company purchase a rider to cover it come next Aug. - what a pain in the butt!
