lapband
Hi everyone, I just came across this board for NH. I have been reading some of your posts and I've seen that some of you are interested in the lap band. I live in Derry and I had the lap band done last January and I am thrilled with it. I had it done in
Boston at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Dr Jones is my surgeon and I think he is awesome!!! If any of you have any questions that I can answer for you I would be happy to. Also you can go over to the lap band board and learn a lot from the great people who post there. Good luck in your journey
take care

Hi Linda. I am also new to this message board and live in Derry, NH. I have a 12/12 date at 12:00 at CMC with Dr. Campbell. (I'm hoping that "12" is a lucky number for me). My BMI is 33.5, and I have had several back surgeries and we're hoping by losing some of this excess weight, that it will relieve some of the constant pain. I'm getting really nervous after reading some of the posts...I have four boys and I'm hoping that the initial recovery isn't so bad....any advise????? Thanks. Patty
Hi Patty, sorry it took me so long to reply, it's been very busy at work. Any way, congratulations on your upcoming wls. That is so cool about the date and time of your surgery! Which surgery are you having? I had the lapband done last January so I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary and I have to tell you that it was the best thing that I ever did for myself! I am 52 years old and I feel like I've been reborn. I have a grandson who just turned 3 in October and I can play with him and not feel like I want to die from exhaustion.
Where abouts in Derry are you? I've lived in Derry for 25 years now. My 2 son's are grown ( 24 & 28)
Right now the only advise I can give you is to make sure that you have tried the protein supplements to see what you like and what you don't. You don't want to be stuck having to drink something that you think is nasty! Also when you come home the main thing for you to remember is to REST. You have to remember that you just had major surgery and your body needs to heal. How old are your boys? Are they old enough to help you around the house? Well let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be glad to help you out

Hi Linda, thanks for just being there for questions, Im having the Lap Band done in January and would love to just keep in touch with you for some support during this time for me...Can I ad you to my friends list...I have a BMI of 33 what was yours to start??? How much weight have you lost so far??? Thanks for being there....Sharon
Hi Sharon, sorry it took so long for the reply...been busy at work. Any way you must be so excited about the up coming wls. Of course you can add me to your friends list. I had my surgery on January 10th and it is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. My heighest weight was 265. My weight at the start of the wls program was 235. You are going to think I'm nuts but I have NO idea what my weight is now. I made a decision in Sept when I went in for a fill that I was not going to weigh myself at home anymore because I was getting obsessed with the numbers on the scale. I would weigh myself 5 times a day. So, I put my scale away and I haven't weighed myself since. My next appointment is in January so I will weigh then. All I can tell you is that I am now wearing a very comfortable 14. I was a tight size 24-26
Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them for you

Hi Lisa, Congratulations on your upcoming wls. I had the lap band done on Jan 10th and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. It certainly is not a fast weight loss like you would get with the rny but I have been very happy with what I have been able to accomplish this year. Feel free to check out my before and during photos in my profile. I haven't updated it in a while but you can see the difference. Go over to the lap band board and you can get a good idea of what is to come. I will also be happy to answer any questions you have.
take care
Linda
