Hi Denise, My name is Lori. I was one of Dr. Drinkwater's first patients at SNHMC. (his 4th "open"). I had my surgery on 4/1/03. Wow! I can't believe that it's been almost 4 years. I would love to get together with others from the old support group. I don't remember you but I didn't continue with the support groups after awhile. I wish that there was a support group for post-ops. Maybe we could alternate meeting forums. I'd be willing to have one here at my home...Just a thought. I have a large family room. I live in Merrimack. I really miss being able to talk to others who have gone through what we have. I also had a body lift in September 05. Since then though I have gained back about 25 pounds. Probably drinking too much wine too. Not good. Anyway, I would love to find support. You look great! How did you reach your goal? I lost 125 pounds (started out at 280, entered surgery at 262.) I could never make it lower than that even with my body lift. Would be curious to know what you did. Anyway, I'm sorry that I'm so wordy! I mostly read the posts and very rarely write. I felt compelled this time! I miss Dr. Drinkwater and Jenn and hope they are well. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Lori

Hi Lori! It is so good hearing from you! I love hearing from Dr. D's patients! I miss everyone, too. And I love your idea about getting together. We should seriously start planning something. I am game! How did I reach goal? Hmm...well, I think it was a few things. I was really strict with the plan for the first 5-6 months after surgery but then I really eased up. I didn't go crazy and have a ton of forbidden foods, but I had what I wanted to in moderation. I didn;t deprive myself of any thing. I think this helped me because as we all know, if something is forbidden, we want it more and this can result in a binge! I think a lot had to do with luck, too. I never hit a plateau to speak of....the weight did come off pretty easily all things considered. But I did have issues with an ulcer off and on and this made me not want to eat once in awhile....but mainly, I just ate small amounts. I didn't stress out and drive myself crazy, making sure I got the right amount of this, none of that, etc....I tried to be as "normal" as possible. And I think it worked for me. Please keep in touch, Lori. My e-mail is [email protected] Hugs, Denise
