I am in Dover and am considering both CMC and Portsmouth Regional. I have BC/BS of Illinois through my husband's employer, does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations of where to go? I am going to attend both centers' information session just to get an overall idea of the process but am in the very beginning stages of this adventure and not sure which place would be best for me. PRH is geographically closer but I don't want that to be my only deciding factor. Any information you guys have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :-D

Hello Kerry I am going to have my surgery at the Beth Israel Deacones Medical Centre for a few good reasons. They happen to be the best centre of excellence in US and the best bariatric team where everyone is trained specifically for the type of treatment you're seeking. If you want some more info on it, let me know . Best of Luck

Hi Kerry - I first want to start by sending you best wishes as you begin your WLS journey. My surgery was on 4/4/06 at CMC so that makes me almost 5 months post op now and I am (as of this morning) just 22 pounds away from my personal goal of 140! The program you choose is so important because you need to feel comfortable with your surgeon, nutritionist, and the facility at which you will have your surgery. I was very happy at CMC and though my initial exposure to Dr. Campbell was a little shaky (I started out in another program that closed before I got scheduled for surgery and transferred to Dr. Campbell...her office ended up cancelling my initial appointment with her TWICE) I ended up really liking and respecting her. I personally don't attend the monthly support groups now, but I know they do have them. And Dr. Campbell's post op follow-up has been consistent and thorough. There are many wonderful programs out there....both in NH and in MA. Choose the place that makes you feel comfortable and confident!! Warm regards, Bonnie

I had my surgery done by Dr. Paciulli at PRH and I really like her. She is caring, informative and answered all of my questions thoroughly. She looks young and when I met her I HAD to ask her how old she was and she told me...lol, but she knows her stuff. The program is thorough to ensure that each patient is ready for the life altering surgery. It was well worth the wait. I haven't gone to any post-op support group meetings (personal choice) so I can't give any feedback on those. I had my surgery in December, 2004 and have lost 183 pounds (started out at 338 and now at 155). 10 days ago I have a full tummy tuck with muscle repair to complete my WLS journey. It is a big decision in choosing a surgeon and I think by going to a couple programs will help you decide. You don't want to limit yourself. Best of luck to you on your WLS journey.
