First app. with Surgeon was 11/2/06, (Last week.) Date of Surgery 1/22/07. I have several trips to make to B&W. Meeting with the Nutritionest, upper GI. and a Physic appointment. Then lastly, Seeing my surgeon one more time before Surg. Day . I think that is a pretty good time frame. The worst part of the entire process is arriving on time to the appointments, never knowing what the traffic is or what detours you must take. Thats the stressful part of the entire process for me anyway, Then add winter travel. I will be a basket case. But, all is worth it. And always glad to be headed North. ( big smile)

Was that the first available date? Do you have all yoru appointments scheduled for the other visits. Will they do them all the same day. Just seems like so long to wait and gain wait in the interim -- thats my fear.

Lisa, Perhaps it would be a good idea to do more reading, I don't mean to sound mean or anything. I frankly don't believe it is a long time. This is major sirgery and a major life style and total commitment. 3 months isn't a long time. As a matter of fact, it is perhap one of the shorter time frames. At B&W they will work with you and double up your appointment if needed. I don't need to loose 10% of my body weight before they do surgery. I will of course, continue to try to loose just to helpmyself out as well as my surgeon in having more room to while working around major organs. You have to help your self as well. This surgery is a major tool. If you don'twork at the process, it is possible to stretch the new stomach out and not have a sucessful weight loss. If you wish to talk, I an in the book. First name LA.

Hi Scott, I live on the seacoast in Hampton Falls. I was born in Medford and know you are not all that far from me. The Portsmouth Regional Hospital does WLS and has support groups. I am having my surgery done in RI because it is the closest "Center of Excellence" according to the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. (ASBS) I will be joining the Portsmouth support groups when I am done with my surgery in RI. I have talked to others that had surgery at Portsmouth and have had good experiences. It is located only a few minutes directly off of route 95. It's probably an hour or so from Medford depending on where you live. Since you are limited to NH only, this might be as close as you get!! If you need any more information please email me and I can help you the best I can. You can also call or email Obesity Help.com and they can help you and give you information on all of the NH Hospitals that do WLS. Good Luck!! Patti
