Ulcerative Colitis/Any one banded?

Does any one know if u can have wls if you have ulcerative colitis? I want to get the lap band. Stacey

Stacey, I am not quite sure what a ulcerative colitis is, but I don't see why they wouldn't. I really wanted to get the lap band surgery, but at the time we were in Connecticut and Tricare only covers one Doctor in the area, and he did not do the lap band surgery, so I changed my mind and decieded to do the RNY (just something for you to think about when you start getting to that point, my friend also wanted lap band and her insurance did not cover it so she self paid, I didn't want to go that way I would rather of had the insurance pay). Good Luck on your journey, I can tell you this even though I ended up with the RNY it was the best decision I ever made. I am healthier then I have ever been, I can move, I can run, I just have so much energy and I always thought that I was going non stop before but I definately have a much better quality of life now.
