Ready to give up
I am getting so fustrated that i will never have my surgury date. I have been working at this from november of 05. I have had all the tests and consults requied including two sleep studies a c-pac machine at night ect. the new diatician keeps telling me to come back in a month because I as honest with her last time and told her I was hungry and cheated a couple of times. this time I will say nothing!!! I am so afraid that I will not meet the goal weight that she set for me that I have not eaten anything for two days! I meet with her on 6/7/06. she then has to reccommend me to the team for surgury and the team only meets once a week or every other week. my insurance is changing July first and I have not been approved by them yet. so all the hospitial bills keep piling up! keep your fingers crossed that I lose ten pounds by tommorow ! any hints ? I am currently on the hoolywood diet (liquid) but I am getting really hungry.
Joann,
Dont give up. I started my process march 2005 and didnt have my surgery until april 2006. Who is your Dr? I can relate about fustration. I had the Lap band I was soppose to get a fill and they now are making me wait 3 more weeks. FUstrating Since I can eat like before as well. I know exactly what you mean about honesty. I was very honest from day one and I felt it got me no where except pushed me back. Its fustrating. Stick with it.
Do you have to lose the weight before surgery? I was required to maintain which was hard enough.
Keep strong dont give up.
I try to keep that attitude as well .
Its hard but it will pay off

Natacha,
Thank you for the words of encouragement. Dr. Jiser is my MD . I was told to lose 15 lbs before the surgury. If i could do that I would not be having the surgury ! I am torn between having the band or bypass. I am leaning towards the bypass because by B/P is really high and I need to lose weight fast. and I think that if I could cheat I would.I am worried about the side effects of the bypass surgury. I try to exercise but I have lupus and rematoid arthritis and some times it is all I can do just to get dressed in the morning(with pain meds) and keep up with my 7 yr old.I hope all this ater I am drinking does not add water weight to me tommorow! (it would be just my luck) thanks again, Joann
Hi Joann - sorry for your frustration. This may or may not work for you, but I had to lose 9 pounds before surgery - I am getting the lap band too - surgery date is the 27th. I lost my intital weight "easily" by cutting out the carbs. Its fairly easy to eat non carb foods, eggs for breakfast, salads with meat for lunch and just meat and vegys for supper.
Good luck
HI JOANNE, I live in Derry NH too, Im looking into getting banded at CMC, but If u need to loose some weight , I would do the atkins diet eating mostly protein and some vege's but not too many. When u stop eating sugars your body goes into ketosis and starts to burn your body fat since u arent taking in any sugar for your body to use, I can usually loose weight pretty fast but then I reach a plateau, and how long can u actually go without carbs? Not for long, at least for me. Good luck, I hope every thing works out for u .

Joann,
Mentioning Carbs a good thing at least for me but I think it ends up for most bandsters . I am 2 months post op and I feel like I am on a low carb diet . You cant eat breads and From experince I wouldnt even try it. You always eat protein first than veggies and you fit not much else in. I really dont eat much carbs at all. Most of them make me so sick. So thats a good approach because you end up cutting that out anyways.
Its all something everyone tries I guess But I know for me once something makes me sick once I never try again because its not worth the suffering if it happens again.
I wish sugar made me sick though (I should never tried it)
