Post-op and Relocating to NH
The subject says it all - I'm 10 months post a LAP RNY and doing GREAT, and my family is relocating to beautiful, wonderful (soggy!) New Hampshire in August. (Actually, it's a homecoming of sorts for me, as I lived in Derry for a year as a child, but I'm truly from Philadelphia.) I currently live near Monterey, CA, and I had my surgery here as well. I want to make sure I continue to get support and learn about the resources in the area - surgeons, support groups, etc. We've bought a house in Dover, so I'm looking in the Portsmouth area. I saw the earlier post referencing the Portsmouth support group, but I know NOTHING about WLS in New Hampshire. Who are the surgeons most people use? Who are the ones felt to be the best? What about plastic surgeons in the area? (I'm having a full abdominoplasty in June before I move, but I'll be looking to have lower body work and arms done in the next few years.)
Thanks in advance, and I'm looking forward to becoming part of the New Hampshire OH community.
Hello Alisha, Welcome to New Hampshire, The Navy has relocated us here, we are enjoying our time here, but truly miss our home in Connecticut, so we are hoping to go back soon (probably the end of the year).
Don't know about the Surgeons and support groups around here, I have actually been driving home to Connecticut to see my Surgeon and I try to make it to the support groups there.
Hope you have a smooth move across country.
Jennie
Alisha, Welcome to NH. The Portsmough regional surgeons are taking me on after my surgeon left the area & the coordinator was very nice to me when i called. Get your records from the surgeon & bring them with you. You can go on the portsmouth regional hospital site to get teh name & number to call. I'd tell you more but don't have the info with me. I will be planning to see them later this summer. You are right to make sure that you have follow up & support. I know they have a support group as well but I won't be able to get there as I work in the evening. Good luck with the move, Pat
