Home from the hospital...
Greetings. I'm settling in at home. It feels good to be home. The doctor kept me an extra day (five days total) because of elevated heart rate and low hematocrit. I received a blood transfusion on day four which apparently helped. Home has been a bit of a roller coaster ride, mostly fine with a few unexpected dips. Today is much better than yesterday.
One thing that has helped was creating a table to keep track of water intake, protein powder intake, food protein intake, and exercise each day. I see very clearly (and quickly) if I get behind in any of those areas. Eating has been fine. I need to eat something every 2-3 hours or I get tired easily. I've eaten blended boiled chicken, blended green beans, asparagus, carrots and spinach without any problem. My first night home I forgot to eat slowly and boy did that hurt for about twenty minutes. Haven't had that problem again! I crave the blended vegetables but they don't have much protein in them.
Something I wasn't prepared for was how sweet all the protein powders are, even the unjury unflavored one has a sweet taste/smell. I'm not used to eating/drinking sweet things so often. Yesterday I started the day off with a Fruit2O water and it was so sweet I couldn't even fini**** It killed my desire for anything sweet all day so getting in my protein drinks was very low. I've been adding unflavored protein powder to SF pudding and low carb yogurt as a way to get in all my protein, but since yesterday, like I said, everything tastes so sweet, so it's been more of a struggle. I guess I wasn't prepared for this. I know I won't be drinking Fruit2O for awhile! I managed to make a strawberry smoothie with a scoop of protein powder and had mashed potatoes with half a scoop of protein powder today, so I'm pretty much on track so far.
I need to eat before I go out tonight so I will finish this tonight or tomorrow. Just wanted to let you all know I'm doing well. Lisabeth
