Topic: Dr. Forse
Hi everyone! Has anyone had the ds with Dr. Forse as their surgeon?  I got an email from Dr. Sudan's office and they said he is replacing Dr. Sudan.  Just wondered if anyone here knew anything about him.  Thanks! Hope

Dr. Hess is the surgeon who essentially "created" the DS - google him and you will find lots of information.  I have not had the surgery yet - I am scheduled for 9/22/08.  Dr. Anthone does not do the DS lapascopically - it is a very complicated procedure and he wants to make sure he can see everything not just what the camera is pointing at at the time.

Hi and thank you so much for the information. Do you mind me asking you a few questions?  I was wondering when you had the surgery and how you are feeling now.  How much weight have you lost?  Also, can you tell me if Dr. Anthone does the ds laproscopically?  You said he trained under Dr. Hess, I know I am a dope, but who is Dr. Hess?  Thanks again for any info. you can give me.  Hope

Dr. Anthone is wonderful.  He was taught by Hess (the man himself) and ran the bariatric program at USC before moving back to Omaha.  Folks travel to Omaha from all over the country to have him perform their surgery.

As for timeline - It only took 3 weeks for me to get in for a consult after the informational meeting.  Once I got insurance approval Kathy called me with a surgery date that was 5 weeks away.  I'm not sure how the COE will affect this timeline though as I know there have been quite a few Medicare folks waiting for this so Dr. Anthone could do their surgery.

Hope that helps.

Topic: RE: lap band first fill
Hi, it is scary when you are starting your journey following surgery. It has been drilled into us not to vomit or aggravate the band. If you are supposed to be eating real food, start slow and chew well. You need to start eating real food so when you go back to your surgeon he can help you get towards your sweet spot. Start out with some chili or chunky vegetable soup for lunch. As long as you take it slow you should do fine. Good luck. Mona

I never noticed much difference after my first fill.  My second fill was the most noticeable for me as far as restriction goes.

The trick here is to chew chew chew and more chewing.

I can't eat white meat of chicken yet. It is too dry.  Moist meat is the best for me.

My family went to a Mexican restaurant tonight and I had some of their refried beans with a little fajita meat mixed together.  That seems to help make the meat go down easier.

Just had the first fill, do not know what to expect.  Had clear liquids this pm, feel okay. Am i worried about nothing?  I had been feeling not too full so hope this helps.  I have been bored with the food not too sure what I should eat.  I am still scared to take real food meat, chiken and chew.  I stick to soup, refreid beans, pudding, jello all SF but know I need to try to eat more normal stuff.  Any ideas?
