Topic: Panniculectomy
Well I am finally home from my surgery. I had my Panniculectomy on 12/1/08 and spent the next 2 months in the hospital battling an infection and pneumonia. I didn't wake up for 3 weeks and was on a ventilator for 3 1/2 weeks; not waking up until 12/26/08. As of last week I have lost 140 pounds whi*****ludes the 47 pounds Dr Anthone took off during the surgery.

The only bad thing is I lost all muscle function in my legs and I have to re-learn how to walk again. Which has been a slow and agonizing process. I will say this; Dr. Anthone and his staff have been great. I was amazed at how often he came to check on me. He even came in on a Sunday and spent a 1/2 hour watching a football game with me.

I've been through a lot; but I believe I have a great life ahead of me. Heck who knows; the way I am losing weight I may not need to have the DS. Anybody out there looking for a surgeon I highly recommend Dr Anthone; he can change your life for the best. Thanks to all of my friends for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.

Topic: Frustated
Totally frustrated with myself.....for the past two or three days I haven't been able to keep anything down even sips of water.  I was certain my band had slipped but also trying to rationalize what was causing it.   Didn't really feel like anything was stuck.   My back hurt and the lower part of my abdomen would hurt sometimes, not the usual feeling that I would get when something got stuck or I didn't chew my food good enough.

My sis was having a heart cath yesterday and I felt I needed to be there with her so just tried to ignore my symptons.  My hubby was home all day yesterday and realized what was going on, when we were eating lunch and after 3 bites of soup (just the broth) it came back up.  So finally I called late yesterday of course it was Friday and with the weather didn't want to make the 130 miles trip  to Omaha.

So I am getting in to see my surgeon on Tuesday morning and guess what today I have kept down liquids.............go figure.    Guess I will wait and see what happens and hopefully will be able to cancel the appt Tuesday morning.

Topic: RE: Self-insurance in NE that covers surgery?
Very unlikely.  If she is a WLS candidate, she would never pass individual underwriting anyway.  I actually changed jobs to the US Govt to get the coverage.

I tried to switch to an Omaha Doctor to be close to home, but I feel so much more comfortable with Dr. Halloway. 400 miles is worth the piece of mind. See you on the 16th.
