You are right, Greg~
I have heard from good sources, Creighton is no longer doing bariatrics, and are sending their patients to Dr. Anthone, who is amazing. I love Dr. Sudan too, but without him, the program won't go on.

He is now doing surgeries at Duke.  (He JUST started.)  I believe he only does them on Thursdays, though, so maybe he's teaching at other times?  Not sure.

Topic: Statewide post-op support group via Tele-Health
Saint Elizabeth Bariatric Surgery Program will be hosting a statewide support group meeting on June 23, 2009 from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. The topic will be "Weight Maintenance; it's not just about calories!" The presentor is Mary Lyn Kardell RD. She is very experienced in working with eating disorders such as emotional/compulsive eating habits and how to turn that around. She is active in doing pre and post op counseling with weight loss surgery patients. If you are interested, contact your local hospital to see if they have the tele-health capabilities to connect into Lincoln. (Most hospitals in the state do!) You will be able to listen and participate in the group. Mona and I are trying these groups quarterly  to see how you like them. We did have a few kinks in the first support group in March, however we are confident we have them worked out. I hope you can join us for this intersting topic by Mary Lyn. Happy Spring!

I know my dr. - Dr. White through Alegent has a support group on the 1st Monday of each month out at Lakeside Hospital (which is West Omaha).  I also know that Dr. McBride of UNMC has a group too.

What I would recommend is to contact the major hospitals - such as Creighton, UNMC, and Dr. White is at Immanuel and Lakeside and find out when their support group meets and if you can go to them if you aren't their patient since you just moved here.

To go to Lincoln, it is a 1 - 1 1/2 hrs away, Kearney is 3 1/2 hrs, and Grand Island is 4 hours!

There are several active local support groups through the hospitals, you would need to contact them to find out when/where they are!

Topic: RE: Patients of Dr Holloway/Dr. Quaid please respond
I went to Dr Holloway and I could not to be happier. He is so caring and patient. I like the smaller community and smaller more perosnal hospital too. WIth Dr Holloway, you are not just a number, you are a patient that he is going to work very hard for and one that will make sure your journey goes as best as possible. I am more than glad that I made the choice I did. He comes to my community twice a month and that makes it very convenient for me.
Good Luck on your journey Laura !
