Topic: Lap band in Scottsbluff!
Hi Everyone, I wanted to let you know that the price for lap banding in Scottsbluff has lowered to 15,000.00. It was 20K. This covers the hospital stay, 3 months of followup and anesthesia. Mona

Topic: Is there a support group in Norfolk
I have just moved to the norfolk area. My mother fell and broke her arm and if they are going to stay on the farm they need help so I moved up here. I was just wondering if there is a support group in this area?

Topic: Dr. Sudan's previous patients
I'm thinking about switching surgeons, and from my understanding, before Dr. Sudan moved to Duke, he was in Nebraska. Have any of you ever had a revision from a RNY to a DS with Dr. Sudan?
Topic: RE: Roadblock?
Hi, we have people who have the band placed and are on plavix and other drugs like it. You have to not take the drug several days before because you risk bleeding. You have to do what is best for your health. Hope this helps. Mona

I have a question is this just for people that have had the surgery, or can it also be for those that are thinking of having it too.
Topic: Roadblock?
I am currently waiting for the approval from my insurance company but was told today by my cardiologist that I will have to wait till after the first of the year to have the LapBand due to me being on Plavix.
I take 1 - 75mg Plavix a day and have since having a stent placed in Dec 2008. (my 4th stent).
He says the FDA recommends it.
I have read alot about the use of Plavix and really have mixed feelings about it anyway..and I have done research of having elective medical procedures while on the medication.
Researchers have suggested holding the medication for 5 - 7 days prior to surgery and then restarting after the procedure.
Has anyone else encountered this dilemma?

Topic: RE: What changes the mind and habits after surgery?
There are big changes after surgery....number 1 you CAN NOT eat more than a bite or 2 so it has to be protein. I am 6 weeks out and still not eating much so there is no room for the "old food". This will change eventually and you will be able to eat more and have more choices. The one thing with the DS is you CAN eat a more normal diet and still maintain as long as you don't go crazy with carbs. Our bodies are designed to absorb carbs so go crazy on carbs and you will gain or not lose. Have you checked out the DS forum on here? They are great help!
