Hi Chris, unfortunately this is normal. Usually they want you to have documentation of attempts to lose weight with diet and drugs. Also you have to have health problems related to your obesity. Hang in there. Don't give up. Insurance companies count on that so they won't have to pay. Good luck. Mona

Hi Mona, It's nice to see another Mona on the board. You need to ask how many surgeries he has done, his complication rate and what his followup procedure is. What surgery are you considering? There is a bypass and band forum on OH. You can get a lot of information from these forums. If you are considering the band, Beth,Jimmy and I are old bandsters and can give you a lot of information. Good luck. Let us know how it goes. Mona

I am almost 5 years out with the gastric banding and i have maintained my weight for over 3 1/2 years. Where do you live and where is the doctors office. I havent heard his name mentioned before. keep in touch and my private email is [email protected], I'm in North Platte and have ran out support group since before I even had surgery. Chris I had the DS done 2 years ago today! Must say I am very happy with the results, However I have had numerous complications. Including 2 near death bowel obstuctions. Read the complication list carefully and think it thru. I love the result but can't totally say I would do it again. I now have had 3 bowel obstructions, a seroma that wouldn't heal and had to be removed surgically. I think I spent almost 2 months in the hosptial last year. Was a big stress on me and especially on my family. My young daughter still gets stessed everytime she thinks I am getting sick. She worries alot that I am dying. be sure to check all your options and think your plan thru. Good luck Lori

Hello Everyone, I am having my first consultation with Dr. Taddeucci and I am very nervous and anxious. What can I expect? What kind of questions and tests will they do?Insurance says if covers, but then i called back with the codes and they said the codes are outdated and not valid. Has anyone had Dr. Taddeucci as their surgeon?

Thanks guys--I appreciate it. I did call dr. offfice this morning and she confirmed everything you said. I really have to work hard at getting more water in, I'm sure of that. She even suggested taking an immodium if I really needed it. I took one this morning and have so much better today. I'm feeling pretty good considering my surgery was a week ago yesterday, even went in and worked a couple hours this morning and got payroll done. But am having a allergic reaction to the tape on my sutures, so Lisa said to just remove all the tape. Bad part about that is that it pulled some of the scabs off and now my tummy is pretty sore and sensitive. Oh well, I am still feeling better than I did a week ago --plus I've lost 16 pounds already! Can't even believe that one, even though I know it will and certainly should slow down after I'm back on food, I'm just enjoying it today! --Angie

Topic: Insurance company
Hello everyone. I just spoke to my inusrance company and asked her what criteria I need to meet to be eligible for the WLS. She told me that the procedure is covered, however there are three pages of criteria, so she is mailing it to me. 3--pages-is this unreal ??? I am so worried .... Anyone else have this uphill battle?? Thanks, Chris

Hi Angie, I wanted to add one thing. If you are drinking a lot of juice, that could be aggravating your diarrhea. Call your surgeon and he can advise you. Good luck. Mona
