Hi everyone, Well I went for my 1 year checkup and I have lost 150lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So thrilled and everyone is very proud of me.  My MD was estatic and very proud.  I want to lose another 40-50lbs but I still have another year to do that.  So now I know it will get harder as you get closer to your goal weight, but I am working out every other day and on the off days I am going to go do water walking at the local pool.  (burns about 300 cal. /hr) Plus working with my horses is keeping me active also.  I just have so much energy except my bad ankle still bothers me with the arthritis from my shattering it years ago.  ( have plates and pins in my lower leg and ankle) but losing all that extra weight really helped with walking.  So I will just keep doing what I have been doing and hopefully will reach goal soon.  Will try and be at the North Platte support mtg in July!! Later everyone, and good luck to everyone.  It can be done.  Laura

Topic: RE: Quadripalegic--WLS??
You might want to post this on the main lap-band forum.  There may be more people who have information. Good luck!

Topic: Quadripalegic--WLS??

Hello, does anyone know any quadripalegics that have had WLS?? My brother-in-law is confined to a wheel chair with co-morbitites. He has a BMI of 41. He would really love to have the Lap-band but know of know one who might perform this surgery. Any info would be great.

Thank you and Blessings to you,

Chris

Monisha, I would wait the full 4-6 weeks that your surgeon recommends before doing curves or ladies express.  You can definitely get in the cardio groove - walking, running, ellypticals.  Just avoid strength training.  I flipped mine and had to have it fixed via surgery & I was back at the gym after 2 weeks - looking back, I wish I would have been more cautious and ignored my release!

Hi Linda I too am fairly new to the boards. I have been trying to get approved for surgery for three years. I am now disabled and will qualify through Medicare. It's been a long road. I had to go through all the testing you mentioned , sleep study, lung doctor, test for acid reflux all that stuff. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I also am hoping to have the lap band surgery. I am waiting on final word from Dr. Holloways office. I pray everyday that this will all come through this time. Good luck and I will talk to you soon

Topic: Follow-up for Got Banded?
Hi Everyone, Ok it has been 1wk from my hospital discharge and I must say I am feeling much better.  I am a little gasy but I am only taking liquid tynenol at night.  Pain level is probably a 2 when I really start moving around.  I can drive and shop so I am happier than I was last week.  I am still in the semi-liquid but I am craving real food.  I didn't tell my friends what kind of surgery I had so they (god bless them) are bring my favourite foods to help me recover.  At least I don't have to cook for my family.   When is in Okay to start at Curves or Ladies Express? I was reading the main message board and their was a lady who started working out too soon and had a flipped port.  Ouch, so she had to have surgery to reposition the port.   Hope everyone is doing great, Monisha

That was AWESOME last night. I had a great time and am still a work in progress.  I enjoyed seeing what people ordered and how they ate.  I really enjoy talking to new people and hopefully what they see is an inspiration!!  Thanks again Mona, Dr. Holloway, and Jenny for being there for all of us!!

On the road again....so glad to be on the road again....
