Topic: Med Alert braclet?????
I was looking on another lapband site and they had the question of should we have a med alert bracelet or necklace with our info on it? It would include Name Gastric Band Patient No Blind NG Tube No NSAIDS What do you think? Would this be a good idea? Being many hours away from Scottsbluff and even from Ogallala I question if I should have this for the off chance I would ever be involved in an accident or other situation and was unable to tell them the info they need to know. Thanks Cindy

I have BCBS Minnesota and I was approved within 60 days.  It didn't take that long but the paperwork got lost once, then they denied me due to not having the psych eval then had to reprocess.  I think that if you have all of your ducks in a row, you will have an answer very quickly!

Hi, there are several good plastic surgeons in Nebraska. The only way medicare or any insurance will pay for plastic surgery is to prove medical necessity. You have to have chronic rashes underneath your belly or a hernia to qualify for medicare to pay for surgery. With breast reduction you have to have rashes underneath your breasts or chronic neck and upper back pain. If you are looking to have your arms or legs done, it is considered cosmetic. You will have to pay for it yourself. Hope this helps. Mona

I am post bariatric surgery and am now ready to have surgery to remove excess skin.  I have checked out the list of doctors in Nebr but am wondering which one you all reccommend.  I am on Medicare so have been told they will only pay for the stomach.  Has anyone else heard that?  If so, what have you done to get the rest fixed?  Just looking for ideas.

Hello, I do not have any answers for you but I would like you to know that I am going to pray for you to get this surgery done.  I am so sorry this is happening to you. I do not know where you should even look but perhaps take Mona' s suggestion and call her. Also, did you look up Dr. Anthone or Dr. Sudan in Omaha, Ne ? I was just told theat they handle high risks patients  Best of Luck & Blessings Chris C

Hello, I have  this insurance also with a GSS Center in Hastings ARe you enrolled in this insurance already?? I Then call this number and they will help you-1(800) 793-6932 to find out your benefits.  If you are not enrolled yet, you can go to your Human Resources dept. and ask if you can read the Health Insurance benefits book that would pertain to you.  Good Luck, Chris C

Hi, call the insurance company and ask what criteria they need to approve you for surgery. Each insurance company is different as far as getting approved. Do they pay for weight loss surgery? A lot of companies want to see that you have tried to lose weight on your own for a certain time period. Hope this helps. Mona

Hi Angie, maybe I could help you out. Could you give me a call and we can talk about this. Our hospital and surgeons might be able to help you. My number is 308-630-2249. I am the bariatric coordinator at the hospital in Scottsbluff. You can also try Creighton hospital in Omaha. They are also a center of excellence in bariatric surgery. That would be a little closer for you. As a medicare patient, you have to have your surgery done in a center of excellence. Good luck in your search. Mona
