Topic: Psyc recomendations???
I've had my initial psy visit with doc recommended by surgeon. I've gotten approval there.  I'm having some depression, anxiety both surrounding this pending surgery and also some other aspects of my life and I'm feeling the need for some needed guidance.  I don't want to go on a 3 hr drive just for a psy visit.  Can someone recommend a good doc/counselor in the tri-cities area.  I'm willing to drive more than a hour, so anywhere there would be great.   The psch I seen in Omaha did say there was a new doc in GI that was doing some Baratric things with the Doctor in GI that does surgery but she didn't know her name. Anyone know of her or of anyone else in the Central NE Area??  Thanks!   I go for my first pre-op visit tomorrow, surgery soon to be scheduled.

I also have Blue Cross I have choice and am a State employee. I also had no trouble getting approved . I am seeing Tudduuic. In Lincoln @ Suergical Ass in St . Elisabeth . I resived a booklet from BC BS today . I don't know if it was just rutine mailing or if I was ment to get it . My husband did not resive one but it could come at a later date . But any how , From what i understand is the surgery is covered. I'm haveing Lap Band . So any way surgery covered but fills and anything else is not and will be out of pocket . I was informed that fills are 250 each and I will need three in the first three months . Is this about the same as you have been told ? Also I was told @ the support group that our insurance also covers skin removal after two years of maintaned weightloss. ALl I had to do was first go to siminar then I seen my doctor on June 5th then I went to dietishin and phyc @ Madanna on July 23 . I now have to attend a support group Aug 8th . I belive that's it . I should get a date soo. I'm hopeing for the ens of Aug beginning of Sept . I could be wrong. I did not have to go to alot of apointments like the sleep test . We should keep each other informed . hope to hear from you Mickey

Topic: RE: Hello, new here
Kym, I am five years out from my Lap RNY, and not a day goes by that I don't feel gratitude to the man upstairs and the two men in the O.R. My docs up in Scottsbluff gave me back my life.  I had not realized how much I had stopped participating.... I wrote a rather long (several pages) personal letter to go with whatever documentation the insurance company needed.  I needed intervention, I needed an answer to my prayer.  My body was a personal prison.  I was not what people saw, and believe me at 360 they saw a lot!  I have lost 200 pounds, and most of that was in a year.  When I had lost enough weight to try for my plastic surgery, had some pre-ops tests and during this screening they found Kidney Cancer.  So you see, WLS saved my life, twice.   Whenever I have the occasion to see Dr. Forney or Dr. Holloway, a big smile comes to my face, and I give them a big hug.  I don't have to hide anymore from living.  If you decide to have the surgery, whichever type, embrace it with your heart and soul.  Listen to the aftercare info and BE COMPLIANT.  Those who generally get into trouble do so because they  get creative with their own set of post surgical guidelines.  God Bless and good Luck with your insurance approval.  Betty

MJ, thanks for all the information, it just seems like once you go to the seminar it takes forever to surgery.  I also have BCBS Federal and they are like the best to work with, it's all the other stuff.  Good luck smilingone

Hi, call your insurance company to see if they will pay for surgery. Then ask what criteria you need to have to qualify for surgery. That will speed the process. Good luck.   Mona

Topic: RE: Plastics and Medicare
Hi Hazel, you have to prove medical necessity for medicare or any other insurance to pay for plastics. You have to either have chronic rashes underneath your belly or a hernia. If you are looking to have your arms or thighs done, it is considered cosmetic. What a bummer after all the hard work you did. Mona

I really had to do little.  I attended the seminar, and completed the paperwork submitting the required PCP doctor's info.  Surgeon asked for 3 yrs, I've not been to the doc in many years for anything other than just sinus infections, and so I requested the past 5 yrs of records instead of the required 3, (also more for  my info).  My PCP had never even dictated any conversations we'd had about my weight in those years.  I have no co-morbidities, that are diagnosed (cause I just don't go do doc! ).  No PCP recommendation was needed.  I did write my own letter outlining the health reasons that the surgery would be helpful.  It was all fact and Medical based, Not sure if this helped, but thought I'd give it a shot.  But I completed the necessary Psych eval, but that was not even sent to the insurance with the pre approval.  So basically BC/BS approved me due to my long term high BMI.  So I guess I was lucky in that sense.  I have my first Dr. appts with surgeon's office on the 30th.  So I'm so looking forward to more info.  !!  .  On the phone, the coordinator indicated we would  be looking at surgery scheduled at the end of September, so I'm banking on it happening in October.  I know I have lots more visits for checks and test ect before we get that far.  But I'm glad the mission has started.

Sorry I don't know anything about your insurance. But the one thing I can tell you about is the lap-band. If you are a person that has other health problems such as a hard time exerciseing  the band may not work!    Not to put the band down just because I didn't work for me, doesn't mean it doesn't work . I have  Fibromyliga and 53 yrs old  and my luck wasn't good. I'm three yrs out and have lost only 30 lbs which I'm thankful for. But it hasn't been easy. I don't know how many fills and unfills I went thur just to lose 30lbs.  So now I'm looking into DS.  I hope everything goes well with you. Take Care Marilyn J
