Topic: RE: How long does Insurance take to respond???
I finally got the nerve up this morning to call my surgeons and see if they have heard from insurance. They just got information yesterday  that I was approved on the 27th.  Yippee! I haven't got my date yet. They are supposed to schedule me and my grandmother together so I'm waiting to hear for sure what the date it. Should know within the next day or so. They told me they "thought" it may be Sept 11.

Hi Michelley, I know how agonizing it is to wait for approval. You should call your insurance company to find out what is going on. You pay premiums to them and you have the right to find out what is going on. Maybe if they need more information you can get it to them and speed things up. Hang in there. It will happen. Good luck. Hi Shawn, the only way your insurance will approve plastic surgery is to show medical necessity. If you have rashes underneath your belly or have a hernia that is medical necessity. Go to your doctor frequently and get documentation of constant followup with the rash. There are loan companies that give health care loans. You might google it and you can find some. Also you can get a home owner loan. You might consider lap banding. It is cheaper and less invasive. I hope this helps. Mona

Topic: How long does Insurance take to respond???
From what I understand, my file was sent to insurance on July 9th.  It's been 3 weeks and still no word from insurance and I'm about going nuts waiting!  How long does it usually take to get a response?  Are responses usually sent to you directly or to your surgeon first? My grandmother called today and she has a date at the end of August to have her lap band. She's been waiting for a good 6 or 7 years so it's time that she has it. We thought at one time we could have surgeries together but it's not looking that way.  So I'm very bummed and the waiting is agonizing. I think I'm scared to call insurance and ask about a status even though the worst they can say is it's denied and I start my appeals. I'm not even sure who to ask for or if there is anyone in particular to talk to.  Or should I be calling my surgeon's instead of insurance? At any rate, I'm already prepping or researching information for an appeal but really need to find some documentation to help with a revision appeal. Michelley ...who needs more patience

Do we have a speaker this month?  I'm planning to be there. I hope my grandmother, Mary,  shows up - she got her date today! Her lap band is Aug 28th or 30th - I can't remember which because she was swtching dates around so her friend could go with her to drive her home if necessary.

Topic: RE: Psyc recomendations???
Thanks but I've already had my initial psych consult and "passed" so to say by the Psychologist recommended by the doc.  I'm just looking  for someone for support and guidance as I complete this journey for ongoing use.  I'm ok if it's a mental health therapist.  I don't need it for insurance reasons.  I had my first pre-op visit at the docs today.  I need a sleep study done which is scheduled for Tuesday the 7th.  They drew blood work today to check sugar levels as my family has long history of diabetic issues.  As long as those two are okay,  I'm good to go to schedule surgery!!

Topic: HELP!!!! Does anyone know how to finance a cosmetic procedure?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to finance a cosmetic procedure?  My insurance won't pay to have my "pannis" removed and I need to get that extra weight off of me.  Plus, my insurance won't pay for have the Gastric Bypass surgery done....there is an exclusion in my insurance policy for Bariatric.  I have been racking my brain and I emailed one hospital and they said that they don't finance cosmetic procedures, Shawn Anderson

Hi, I don't know of anyone in your area. Just be sure they are psychologist or psychiatrist. It won't count if it is a mental health therapist. Good luck. Mona
