Hi Everyone, the North Platte support group has changed their meeting place. It is now at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in the Bradley room. It is still on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. Beth Thompson, Kay Nichols and Kay Steinbeck are the leaders. I will be coming to the meeting in the next few months. Hope to see you there. Mona

Dr. A performed a Panniculectomy and a DS on me during 2009; to date I am down about 166 pounds. I have told everyone that I can that as great a surgeon Dr. A is; he is a better human being. I tell this story as much as I can. After my Panniculectomy on 12/1/08 I was recovering in a nursing home in Omaha. I was having a lot of discomfort from my woundvac; I called his office and they suggested I come into the clinic on the next Monday. I had no sooner hung up the phone; maybe 5 minutes and who walked through my doorway but Dr. A. I was blown away; hehad ridden is bike up on his day off to visit me. He had no idea that I had just placed the call to his office; he just wanted to check on me and see how I was doing. He looked at my belly and told me I could have a "woundvac holiday" which meant I could take it off for a week. It really helped me mentally. I ended up not going back to it and like they say " the rest is history". He ended up staying for about 45 minutes; we talked about Husker football and his time at USC.
I guess my point is; there are surely a lot of very good capable surgeons; probably several in Omaha. But for knowledge; surgical skill and compassionate caring, I don't think you can go wron with Dr.A and his staff. Good luck with your revision.

Topic: RE: Dr. Anthone pre-op diet?
Nope. The only thing I had to do was NOT gain any weight. I was (and still am) bad at sticking to any diet for very long so I didn't really try to lose anything before my surgery. I will say that I believe that anything someone can do to lose some more before surgery would be beneficial....so go for it!

Thanks, Anissa. So for post-op, did you follow some sort of strict plan? I found one another gal posted on the VSG site that's VERY thorough, so I'm going to plan on following that. MOre or less liquids for two weeks, etc. I'm aiming for February 15. Happy Valentine's Day to me!!

Yah...what Felicia said. He has no post op diet. I especially agree with Felicia on the Sugar Free popsicles. They were a life saver for me. I was nauseated after every meal and would eat a SF popsicle and it really seemed to help.
Good luck!
Good luck!
