Linda, I had Dr. Goering for a surgeon. He and his staff are excellent. Can't find any better. He answers all questions and spends extra time with you if needed. He will make you feel very comfortable. Rhonda

Barb, we will miss you at the support group, but you have to take care of yourself.  What did they do in the other two surgeries?  I will be praying for you and you will be in my thoughts.  Take care and I will contact you again.  Hazel

Topic: Hip problems
I haven't posted for awhile.  I had a total hip replacement done Dec. 17th and thought everything was going great. Then I got a sinus infection and went to the Dr. right away but the infection traveled down to my incision site and cause major problems.  I ended up having two more surgeries on my hip.  I am home now on IV antiobiotics for the next 6-8 weeks. I don't think I will be able to make the next support meeting in Central City, I need to get my energy level back up (had 5 transusions becuase of this ) .   I will be checking here and hopefully posting while I am home. Topic: RE: Medicare as secondary payer

Hi Jill -

I did a search on OH for "Medicare Secondary Payer" and found your post. I went to your profile and it looks like you might have had your surgery in August, so I'm hoping that the answer was YES.

I had my RNY last summer. My husband has been on Medicare due to a disability. He's been fortunate enough to be able to return to work. He has medical coverage through his employer who has more than 100 employees. The coverage through his work has a specific exclusion that will deny him coverage. When I contacted Duke University about this they said we were out of luck because Medicare always follows suit after the primary carrier and will deny coverage. I've posted about this on some of the boards and have gotten some mixed information. Some medical billers and folks who work in Dr's offices say that Duke is right. Other's say no, Medicare will and does pay. Sooooo.... Did Medicare pay?

I hope so for your sake and that of my husband.

If you had your surgery, how are you doing?

Thanks in advance.

Barb

Topic: RE: Support Group in Lincoln.
Hi Hazel, We meet every other Tuesday evening from 6p-7p lower level of the hospital education center. Would love to have you join us. I hope your support group is going well. I think it is wonderful that you have been so committed to doing this. It is essential to me that I be connected. Were you aware that there is a teleconf support group from Bariatric Centers International? You dial in on your phone and put on speaker. It is quite interesting with post op patients from all over US on the line. You can participate or you can just listen. I have done it 3 times and each time learned alot of helpful things that I have applied to my program. If you want more info, let me know. If you go to Bariatric Support Centers International on line, you will find more info. The support group schedules are posted at Saintelizabethonline. You can put in weight loss surgery and it will take you to our bariatric website. Hope to see you sometime in the near future. If you have further questions, feel free to call me at 402-219-7638. Take care. Shelly
