Topic: RE: Hi, need some help please!
I don't have BCBS but my insurance excluded all treatment for obesity then there was like an astreic (sp?) and it said to see exceptions or something to that effect. Well when I looked there it said that it only covers morbid obesity. I think with a BMI of over 40 mine was 53 and after I went to all of their required evaluations I was approved in only 21 days!!!
Good Luck to you!!!

Topic: RE: Protein advice
I L.O.V.E beneProtein the unflavored stuff. I buy it at my hospital where I had my suergery. Ask your NUT. if your hospital cafateria sells it. IDK where else you could find it but its great I don't taste it AT ALL!! IDK how much it is per serving but its 8.20 for a can about the size of the carnation instant breakfast cans or like the slimfast canned powders. I add it to soups and well all sorts of food like beans and stuff.

Topic: Protein advice
Hello all! Scheduled for a realize band on 6/9/2010 and have started a pre-op liquid diet. I am looking for advice on the best and most moderately priced protein (whey) supps. I have tried
Unjury (pricey, but am buying the strawberry sorbet) $1.11 per serving
Jillian Michaels @ Walmart .71 per serving
Body Fortress -chocolate @ Walmart (slightly odd taste) .59 per serving
Has anyone tried the products at HyVee (health market section) ? I hate buying 2 pound packages in case I hate it.
I looked at the Vita lady website, but it all seemed on the higher price end, and there were just TOO many choices.
Also, do you find yourself continuing w/ protein shakes after returning to solid foods?

Dear Nicole,
Have you had any luck yet? Have you considered changing jobs or finding a part-time gig w/ benefits? Not easy in this economy, but find out from others what employers do have coverage. Nebraska Medical Center employees have coverage on the ppo plan, but not the hmo plan offered. Of course there will be delays in coverage, etc when changing or adding a second plan,
Good luck!

Topic: RE: HELP
There are other alternatives. if you know you have to self pay then check into having it done in Mexico. That'a what myself and many other self payers do, much cheaper and safe.
Topic: Telehealth support group
Hi Everyone, Join us at 7pm mountain time for the telehealth support group. It will be at the hospitals in the following communities: Alliance, Sidney, Imperial, Ogallala, Chadron and Scottsbluff. Check with the hospital near your area to find out location. Dr. Jeff Holloway will be talking about band fills and answering any questions you have about banding or bypass. I hope to see you there. Topic: RE: BCBS of NE cover DS?
Hey Amy! I finally got approval a couple weeks ago, and have had the preop tests done, but am waiting for my PCP and Anthone's office to get coordinated with each other so I can get a date also. I'm hoping tomorrow, but who knows. Let me know when your date is... maybe we'll see each other in recovery!
