Topic: Hello Omaha area

First off let me start my first post by saying i'm proud of you/us, We've made or are contemplating making one of the most difficult decisions in our lives, choosing to get healthy again, I'm 1 year 2 months out and some change from my OGB surgery, AND I've recently moved from the Rapid City area to Omaha, I'm looking for a support group in my area which is West omaha/ Bennington/ Blair/ even Fremont area. I have a great home base support group having a mother who had LGB two years ago this past november but i need MORE support.. Please message me with locations and times if you know of any good groups out there. It would be my friend *sleeve patient*, possibly my mother and myself attending.. thank you in advance and enjoy feeling the cold this year rather then always being HOT from your insulation. :)

Dr. Anthone did my DS a little over four years ago and my husband's a little over a year ago.  We live in Florida.  When we had our surgeries the standard routine was to go to Omaha for an initial consult.  At the consult you will be told which pre-op tests and such you will need.  You can have all of that testing done locally and have the results faxed to Omaha.  Then you will just go back to Omaha a day or so before your surgery.  So far as the seminar I think it is great to attend the seminar in person, it gives you the opportunity to interact not only with Dr. Anthone but also other patients.  Consequently you could try to schedule your initial consult around the time of the seminar (2nd Thursday of the month).  But if that is not possible I believe they have the seminar on video that you can watch.

There is also a yahoo group for Dr. Anthone's patients you might be interested in joining.  http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ds_nebraska/

Please feel free to contact me through PM if you have any questions.  I am only too happy to help if I can.  The DS is an awesome surgery and Dr. Anthone is an incredible surgeon.

kb~

There are some folks who I know of that have traveled as far as Florida to have Dr Antone do their surgery.  He has seminar the first Thursday of each month I believe.  What I would do is give them a call and ask them what they would require of you.  I will tell you from experience with his office, that staff is wonderful and very caring.

Hope that helps.

Topic: Hello From Colorado
Hi all-

I am a pre-op currently living in Southern Colorado. I am set up with a surgeon to have RNY in the next few months and am starting to question if this is the right surgery. I see that Dr. Antone does the DS but it is a bit to travel for me. Anybody else come from out of state? What is the usual procedure required to get surgery...seminars..amt of meetings? I cannot afford to drive to and back alot so that is a concern as well. Thanks for your help.

Topic: WLS Support Group Dinner in Imperial, NE
The Imperial WLS Support Group will be having a get together dinner on November 13th at 3pm.  It will be held at the Berean Church in Imperial at 1530 Broadway St. (the corner of Hwy 6 and 16th St.).  We ask that you bring your spouse and a side dish (salad, dessert, or other side dish).  Make sure your recipe follows our Bariatric Surgeons' dietary guidelines.  If you need ideas, just contact me for recipes.  It will be a good time of fellowship, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Topic: 4th Annual Bariatric Surgery Patient Reunion Nov.6
Greetings fellow Nebraskans,

Please join us in Lincoln for the upcoming reunion "Alter your Life, Alter you Attitude."
MK Mueller will be the keynote speaker talking about changing our thinking, behaviors, and attitudes. Often we don't focus on those areas until a few years out  when we realize that is the key to long term success. For more information send me an email and I will send you an invitation with the specifics of this awesome day. For those of you that have attended in the past 3 years, come again and bring a friend who might enjoy learning more and celebrating better health after weight loss surgery. [email protected] and you may call 402-219-7638.
