I live in Grand Island only 20 miles away from Hastings.  I will be going to the support group that is starting in Kearney next wed. I first attended an info meeting in Omaha, Ne where the surgeon there Dr. White gave the pros and cons of all the surgical options that he did. I know there is a surgeon here in Grand Island but all he does in the gastric bypass,  I had already made up my mind before I even went to the info meeting that I wanted the lap band.  I watched the series Big Medicine on TLC that is where I first heard of the lap band procedure so then I researched it on the internet. Everyone is different and has different needs and they will have to decide for themselves what is best for them of course they will have to discuss it with their surgeon too. I know there is a support group that meets in Grand Island, I have never attended that one due to scheduling conflicts with my church activities.

Also maybe the local library in Hastings has internet access that your sister in law could access, I know the library here in Grand Island does.  That would be an option for her. I am looking for a list of support groups and their meeting dates, times and locations. Being I am not well versed with NE except for the 8 times I have been there in the past 10 years I would appreciate it if you would fill me in on this info. I was referred to this page via the support group section here on OH. My sister in law and her husband, living in Hastings, NE, are researching the LapBand and I told her I would try to get her some local information. She does not have internet access at home so I am sending her info. Any help I could get is great. By the way, I saw a post from Vanessa @ Germany on the board here a few days ago... she used to be one of us AL girls so take good care of her when she hits NE soil!  Thanks so much!
