Hi everyone, It's official, my PCP called this morning with the results from my pre-op physical. I have E-Coli in my system, So I faxed that information plus a history of my up & down temps this past weekend. I got the call from Dr Hung, I have to wait until next Tuesday. I know I should understand but I just don't want to. I felt so ready, the strength, courage, faith, and support were there. I know GOD controls everything, we are just a small part, I need to just believe this is what is best. So with I'll just try again next Tuesday. Thank-You for letting me just talk. Brooke

Thanks for letting us know. I was thinking about you this AM and wondering what time you had to be there, etc. I'm glad to hear that they are being 'overly cautious' tho. I'd certainly rather they do that than 'take a chance', ya know? I have to go to LGH for my sleep study tomorrow night. NOT looking forward to that, but it will be OK. Hopefully I will sleep well enough that I won't be half dead at work the next day! Sally... who lives just across 70th st from St E's.

Hello Sally, Good to hear from you. You know I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep there, but they try to make you as comfortable as possible. I hate to admit this, but without the kids and the hubby I sleep like a baby. I wouldn't of minded a few more hours. They did find that I had sleep apnea, but I'am learning to like my CPAP. I feel so rested when I wake-up. I wish you luck. My aunt & uncle are on Northborough Lane & Skyway or something that starts with an s. My little ones will be there while Iam in the hospital. It's just so close I'll be able to see them almost anytime. Your a real comfort to talk with, please keep in touch. Take care, Brooke

Brooke, I'm also in Lincoln and have an appointment with Dr Hung next month - it sure takes a long time to get in to see him! I've heard that he is really good - what was your impression? I'm interested in a lap band. I know how hard the waiting is, and I would be a mess if I had a date and then it got postponed, but doesn't sound like you have to wait much longer. You sure wouldn't want a problem with an infection. Hang in there. You're in my prayers. Janet

Hello Janet, I really like Dr Hung and his nurse Lisa. They are very patient with you, they give you all your options, then slowly go through them with you. They stop let you absorb the information, allowing you to form any questions as to how it will effect your life. They give so much information and resources you leave feeling ready. Don't get me wrong they all so tell you what is expected out of you. Finding what kind of commitment you are willing to make, what ever you decide it's a life change. I really enjoyed the pre-op support group, It allows you to see other people in your shoes. You can express any concerns again at that meeting usually Lisa or Dr Hung will be there. Listen I could go on and on about them, but one last thing. From the time I arrived to now they have never made me feel fat, or guilty of being fat. That means something to me. The chairs, exam table, and the scales all fit. You never had to look for a couch or a armless chair. Please keep in touch, if I can help you let me know. Brooke

Hi Janet... Dr Hung did my husband's RNY on Feb 28, and we both like him a lot. When my husband was referred to him we knew NOTHING about him other than he was in the same office as Dr Maben who did a different surgery for my husband a year ago. We were sort of hoping to switch the appt to Dr Maben just because we KNEW him and liked him... and we were afraid that perhaps with such an 'ethnic name' Dr Hung might be one of those doctors who are hard to understand. WRONG! He is young and cute and speaks better English than me. He has done over 350 RNYs and has only had one patient die, and that was a person who had EVEN MORE health issues than my husband, who has a lot! (MS and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, etc.) ANYWAY... Dr Hung only started doing the lab band last year, but his extensive experience with the other surgery probably means that he is as good at the band as he is at everything else. I think that part of the reason that he is so hard to get an appt with is because he IS such a good surgeon. And also Dr Maben is no longer working.... he has 'retired'.... He used to do gastric bypass surgery too, No one is saying, but I'm guessing that he has serious health problems that mean he can no longer operate. That's a shame, because he was very good too. Anyway... I'm also planning to have Dr Hung do an RNY for me, and THREE of my co-workers have appts with him for the lap bands. I had a hard time deciding between the 2 surgeries, but chose the RNY for 2 reasons #1, that is what my husbad chose and #2 I have A LOT of weight to lose, and I've heard some people say that the bands work best for people with only 100 lbs to lose or so. Now Dr Hung didn't say that, and he left the choice entirely up to me... but I did a lot of research and think that with my eating habits I need the RNY. good luck to you! I hope you will post here often Sally
